    Lutrick's Black Magic

If I had a bull that was honestly good, I'd want him used as much as possible.

    Best Heat Wave Clone?

I'd say they cloned Monopoly because of this injury.  If you think about the timeline it takes to make a clone and get him to producing age, you have to pull the trigger early in order to not miss the marketing window of the genetics.  The club calf industry has a short memory for bulls.

    Quick and easy money

Quick and easy money...you might as well learn now there's no such thing.  The good news is, from now til June is plenty of time to make $1200. Opportunity is missed by most people because it comes dressed in overalls and looks like work. Thomas A. Edison

Class of '10 sale heifers - Blairs.Ag Cattle Co.

Excellent looking set, but have to ask...do you use the car wash in the background for your washrack?  (lol)

    Best Heat Wave Clone?

Any differences in full sibs or flush mates by Heatwave versus a clone is due to the inevitable inconsistency of a four or five way cross bull not the tiny difference in mitochondrial DNA.  One clone siring more winners than another is due to chance. So to sum it up, my opinion is that there is...

    Shoshone Angus

It's not where these cattle were born that made them a type.  It's the selection and breeding decisions made by the breeder.
  7. B

    How many breeds are there?

"breed" means little anymore.  You can find CH that look like AN and AN that look like CH (besides hide color of course).  More important is the "type".

    First Show Bull... Opinions

He's not without flaws, but none of them are, don't let them fool you.  Get some feed in him and Charge on, Brady.

    Opinions on PB Angus Bull.......

I'd want to see that bull on the move before I opened the paddock gate.

    Walking bull

means the same as cleanup bull.  It refers to the walking rights (or pasture rights) as opposed to semen interest in the bull.

    Not neccessarily.

yes, closers and goalies tend to be a bit off.

    Shoshone Angus

if you market your composites with DNA info, keep in mind that some will be genetic winners and some will be genetic losers.  DNA info does not make cattle better, only more proven.  Not all will be marketed at a premium.  I'm not saying don't do it, just saying know what your potentially...

very nice.  I like the cow.

    Shoshone Angus

Yeah, but grass is pretty much free!  Just stop feeding grain and using grain based genetics and switch to more grass based easy doing ones.  The Aussie's do pretty much everything on grass, same thing in Argentina, why can't we?  If you are selling direct freezer orders to your customers...

I agree to a degree, but you'll find that if the cattle don't have some growth bred into them you will get really sick of paying the feed bill.  That's my experience with the "maternal only" cattle.  I love the heifers, but the steers don't have the gas.  Trust me, I thought the exact same thing...

    Chubby Calves..

    well, and there's that too.

    Chubby Calves..

I used to think there was a secret too, but now I'm convinced it's simply early maturing genetics, lots of feed and working hair a lot at a very young age.
