    F250- '01- 165,000 truck

JD dealer offered my uncle $30,000 for his IH 1066 also, but that was on a new JD tractor with a hell of a price tag. It was their way of negotiating down from sticker price, but with the benefit of the buyer feeling like they're getting a great deal and "have to" trade up to cash in on the...

    F250- '01- 165,000 truck

a '99 decked to the hilt and in "excellent" condition with 120k on it books for $15,600 retail price from a dealer.  source- Kelly Blue Book, kbb.com but to each his own.  Everything is worth exactly what someone else is willing to pay for it.

Questions about an old angus bull

Ditto Husker's comments. He works great on continentals. Also, I have seen a lot of his daughters in production and they have outstanding udder quality.

    F250- '01- 165,000 truck

Personally, I think that's too much for a truck that's basically 10 years old already.  Although if I lived in parts of the world that don't have winter and salted roads like we do here I might think otherwise.  I just hate seeing rust on a truck with a near $20,000 sticker.  Just my vent for...

    SAV Brand Name 9115

Boot Jack- sent you a pm, but for the rest of the world... our best heifer is a Brand Name out of an OCC Missing Link first calf heifer.

    Question from judge, appropriate?

so, granted...the above actions by a judge is bolony.  However, I've judged plenty of shows and I have asked about the sire of the good ones (usually after I've placed them) but it has no bearing on where the critter ends up in the show.  I ask for my info only.  FWIW- not all judges are crooks.

    Top sires

remember Top Sires (and other mail order companies) is just a reseller of semen made elsewhere.  they did not produce the stuff, so besides handling, they have nothing to do with the quality of the semen.

Select Synch with a CIDR vs. Select Synch with a CIDR + TAI

Use select synch with CIDR + TAI. I heat detect and breed for 72 hours then time breed the rest (with GnRH of course).  Gives every cow an opportunity to get pregnant.  Whole program yields 70-80% AI preg rate and 95+% after 45 days natural service following the AI. Open cows are culled unless...

IS there a MONOPOLY son yet out there to replace his daddy..

I like my Unsub calves.  Similar to Monopoly calves but I think a tick stouter. (I do not own the bull)

The One We've All Heard About - New Sire for 2013!

I'd breed my cows to a bull named Spider Monkey.  That's awesome.  <rock>

Settle an argument...who has to open the gate?

boyfriend and girlfriend should not be closely related!  ;D passenger should offer, but some drivers (hosts) would prefer to close the gate so they know it's closed properly.  I prefer to close my own gates because some need to be closed a special way or I'll have cattle on the road which is...

Racks for hauling cattle chute on side of stock trailer

Do whatever you want but I'd sure feel a lot better with some kind of bracket there.  I guess ratchet straps do the job, but think about the kind of damage that a chute falling off a trailer at 70 mph could do on the interstate if a ratchet failed.  That's more liability than I care for.  Call...

    1/4 straw question....

1/4cc straws have been shown to have a 1% higher conception rate than 1/2cc straws because of a more rapid thawing of the sperm cells.  With sexed semen that's already lower conception because of lower number of sperm cells in straw and stress on the cells themselves, they put it in 1/4cc to get...

    Preferred Preg Check Method?

Yes, some of that kind of stuff.  I buy my prostaglandins, GnRH and vaccines through the vet clinic.  Smaller items are usually bought at the farm supply store or online.

    Preferred Preg Check Method?

I do get what you're saying, I guess I just disagree.  Vets, excavators and plumbers are business people and you and I are their customers.  They come out to fix problems because people pay them to fix problems. I can do the routine stuff myself- I can turn a wrench, run a skidsteer, and take...

    Preferred Preg Check Method?

do you hire the plumber to fill your water tank?  The bull dozer guy to drag the driveway?  They might like some "gravy work" also.
