I agree with above posts and will add a few things Disposition!!!  does the calf come up to you and is calm and curious?  If the tail goes up and the calf runs away you should too how does it walk?  do the back feet step in nearly the same spot that the front foot left?  a short choppy stride...

It might be the pose, but it were my steer I would be much much more worried about how straight he on his rearlegs vs his depth of body, to deepen him out I would push fiber level in feed to 13-14% by adding extra cottonseed hulls, but those rear legs look like they could be trouble good luck

Ext will make great momma cows, but be very careful on disposition, Ext cows are some of the meanest and most unpredictable out there

I saw these calves about 6 wks ago in person and all I could say was WOW, if Ohio can get past "black vision" these smokes will do some real damage in the show ring,  these are well worth a trip to see for yourself
