    trouble mailing bovine blood samples

Sorry to hear about your troubles, unfortunately the world is full of "overachievers" with nothing better to do.  I've been mailing out blood samples for th and preg tests for several years with no problems, considering the decline in items being mailed today an overachiever that reduces the...

    ASA Secretary

I met Greg last year and was very impressed with his candor and common sense, We need to give him a well deserved pat on the back for finally fixing the registration woes of the past several years.  I hope we can find someone to replace him that will be able to move on to the next problem of...

Any one heard of some "calming shots" for steers?

I would say about 90-95% of typical county fair steers.

Any one heard of some "calming shots" for steers?

I can't believe what I'm reading GW, 1st of all the "average family" doesn't have 3-4 thousand in a calf, it is a shame to slaughter any project animal before the show but REALLY what are your family's well being worth???  I've been hurt by a nice calf that went wild, and if his kick was a few...

Any one heard of some "calming shots" for steers?

This has kind of deteriorated into a "urination contest"  but I would like to reiterate my point -MAKE STEAKS don't take the risk, a possible trophy isn't worth it!!!

    BLACK VS. RED!!!!

whether red or black everyone really needs to remember the every show champion is just one person's opinion on that one day,  we show red and get beat by better blacks and we have seen good reds beat good blacks.  When you pick a car to buy its just your opinion on that day, do ever worry that...

Any one heard of some "calming shots" for steers?

I would agree with the others, as hard as it may be this steer needs to become steaks NOW, we had a heatwave steer this spring who was great in the barn but put him on a trailer and he would go NUTS, his last ride was a short one, just to the fair to be weighed in. By the time we got there he...

    who and why

I come from a family with many veterans even though I am not one, I have a great respect for our armed forces HOWEVER being in the military for a long time, a POW ect doesn't neccesarily make you a great potential president.  US Grant was one of our greatest military figures in all of our...

    who and why

My wife and I are supporting Obama for the following reasons:  1.  He hasn't been in Washington long enough to be dirtied up by the lobbyists and the special interests that try to buy their way--in other words he doesn't OWE as many people as much as McCain does.  2.  He has banned lobbyists...

    phosphorus

By black label i am assuming you are refering to black acid 10-34-0 as opposed to the standard green poly 10-34-0,  no i have never used black product, i did know a competitor who used it in the 90's, main problem then was the impurities which caused it to be black would settle out and leave...

    phosphorus

10-34-0 is in the same boat as many of the other fertilizer products when it comes to the big run up in price but it also is worse with 10-34-0 as there is a true shortage of phos-acid which is used to make 10-34-0.  if you don't have yours bought it is very likely that you may not be able to...

    Round Up Rumor

the main reason round-up is in short supply is that the world demand for the product and the world capacity to produce the base tec matterial is about the same, then add to this equation the growth in round-up ready corn acres this year and you will see spot shortages.  China is a producer of...

    potash

You still have time to make some $, potash will be $750-800 min. retail by fall, the price will continue to escalate as long as the dollar keeps going down and the chinese continue to buy on the world market with all of our wal-mart purchasing dollars.  Watch phosphate pricing to hit $1500...

    Shothorn breeding advice

I would reccomend using Ali, we have had several Ali calves from our heifers both shorthorn and crossbred and the calves just pop out at 65-75 lbs and hit the ground hungry. Also if your heifer is roan there is a good chance of getting a blue.  Good luck

    shorthorn calf for sale maybe??

Your calf to be might be a nice calf, but... I looked up the pedigree and didn't find many national champs back there on the dam side, which where I always look, its always good to work at marketing your calves.  But until the calf is on the ground and pictures are available its hard to set a...
