    2011 Babies!!

We are almost wrapped up in the calving department, so I thought I would start the yearly 'New Babies' thread! Other earlybirds, join in and post your newcomers!! Except the 35Y heifer, who is an Eye Candy out of a Maverick (Shorthorn) x Hereford daughter, the rest are sired by Eyes on the...

Anyone who has tried him: What were the Walks Alone birthweights like?

    Duhrams for Denver

Have we STOPPED selling cattle by the pound? Whatever happened to little cow/big calf? Now we just want little cows with little calves? I spent some time writing a post that was about this topic exactly in one of the deleted threads (thanks unruly steerplaneters)...Whatever happened to the goal...

Cover of January Black,OOPs I mean Shorthorn Country

I think this topic was to bait me to say what I was thinking for most of Denver. The commercial-oriented Shorthorn breeder may look down on a crossbred of undesirable heritage winning the Louisville show but I am sure the adage "Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" applies. If those...

    DENVER DISPLAY BULL ICY HOT

He was pretty hairy and fancy for sure, but could have some more power to compete with some of the other bulls there. I liked his shoulder, but I think he needed more depth of rib. I don't know if I would have liked to see him in the shower... He would probably work best on a soggy-made cow with...

Anybody seen any of the bulls going to Denver?

I splurged last summer and bought a Canon 5D Mark II with a 24 - 105 mm lens. I love it! Plus, with that short of lens, I could be standing nearly on top of the bulls and still get a picture without getting in anyone's way. Feel free to borrow away! I have more I could post, but I haven't been...

Anybody seen any of the bulls going to Denver?

Smoking Hottie was one of Lautners. The top picture is one of Easy Rider. Followed by two pictures of Just One Look, one of Mind That Bird and one of Packing Heat (all Lautners).

Anybody seen any of the bulls going to Denver?

Here's a couple preview pictures from the yards... I'm sure they'll be more coming! The first three pictures are "Believe in Me" (A full brother to Walks Alone, I believe) The second two pictures are "Fast Freddy" a Heatwave x Witchdoctor owned by Trausch's. Throttle, maybe he was the one you saw?

What's the latest reports on the following sires?

We have used Gigolo Joe and Tyson in the past on straight British (Shorthorn x Hereford) cows. Both were really easy calving, however, the Tyson's stomped the Gigolo Joe's hands down when it came weaning time. We found, on straight British cows that the Gigolo Joes were inconsistent in type and...

Hi everyone, Thanks for all your personal messages and calls. If there's anyone who sent me a message that didn't get a reply, just give me a shout. COOL BLUE FUZZBALL (& FRIENDS) FOR THE 2010 CWA PROSPECT SALE!

Here are a few more pictures of our other heifer consignments. Both are Jigsaws out of Maverick daughters. We were really pleased with the Jigsaw's we had born here this year. Except for a set of twins that could probably make 4-H steers in a pinch, these are the last Jigsaw's we will have to...

COOL BLUE FUZZBALL (& FRIENDS) FOR THE 2010 CWA PROSPECT SALE!

I am really looking forward to it! It will be a tough show, but I think there will be some great cattle. I just wish we were still stalled in the Canada Centre barn.

COOL BLUE FUZZBALL (& FRIENDS) FOR THE 2010 CWA PROSPECT SALE!

Thanks Mark! She's about 90% British breeds as it turns out, but she would make a good female to use a Simmental bull on. You would probably get quite a few baldies out of the cross. I've attached a rear picture of her!

COOL BLUE FUZZBALL (& FRIENDS) FOR THE 2010 CWA PROSPECT SALE!

The first of the heifers we were able to get pictures of is one that we are pretty excited about. She is a Jigsaw out of one of our best Maverick x Hereford cows. We look forward to her dam calving every year because no matter what she is bred to, she will produce a good one. Our best 2009 bred...

COOL BLUE FUZZBALL (& FRIENDS) FOR THE 2010 CWA PROSPECT SALE!

Here are a few more pictures of our consignments. The black/white markings steer is a Daines Thriller calf out of a Maverick (Shorthorn) x Hereford cow. Paternal and 3/4 siblings to this steer were Reserve Grand Champion steers at the 2007 and 2008 Agribition Prospect show. The straight black...

COOL BLUE FUZZBALL (& FRIENDS) FOR THE 2010 CWA PROSPECT SALE!

He weighs about 790 lbs. right now and was born in February, so he would make a nice fat steer for summer shows next year.

COOL BLUE FUZZBALL (& FRIENDS) FOR THE 2010 CWA PROSPECT SALE!

Thanks everyone for your great comments. We are really pleased with him. I agree he would have made a neat bull, but I think someone will have alot of fun showing him! I should have some more pictures of our other consignments up in the next couple of days. We are getting some sun this fall...
