how to become a cattle jock

If it’s experience you want I know there are sale cattle out there all over the place that need rough clipped. The more dirty, unworked hair u have to chop through the more you will appreciate the ones that are well cared for and ready to be clipped

Secrets to feeding a show steer

Feeding is by far the most important and hardest thing to do I believe. The way cattle are fed has changed a bunch over the years. It’s not about efficient fresh cattle anymore. It’s about getting them to a certain look, at least in the steer deal. I have found that a big brand bagged feed just...

    In God we trust

From what I have observed he adds a ton of substance and feeding ability to em. Puts some real world beef characteristics into them while still maintaining some show ring look.  I’m getting old and remember good quality beef steers roaming this planet that won some shows. So much work to make...

    Less well known Shorthorn herds

POWDER’FUL vs ultra white for a builder. what is better?

Majority of the time I’m going to go over it with another color anyway so I want less product on there or it just looks like a bunch of goop, too much paint can look bad in a big hurry. I want it to look light and natural like hair not paint.

POWDER’FUL vs ultra white for a builder. what is better?

So are you trying to make it look like there’s a lot more product in the hair or like there’s more natural bone and shape to the leg. Yup, it takes a little more sometimes but it cost way less than going through blades that are gummed up and needing extra oil to get the blades cleaned up and...

    Mature bulls

I would much rather see mature cattle. No guess work needed then. Much easier to evaluate what they really are. That’s why I like seeing the momma cows on pasture with calves when I’m buying cattle to see what the cow looks like and the bull. We are all guessing as to what we think they will...
