Hauling cattle in a horse trailer

Load as far forward as possible.  I recently hauled some for friends in their 3 horse slant that were not and had issues with trailer fishtailing behind the truck.  Had to slow down to prevent.

    Heatwave's dam clone

It is way out of my league. But if I did have a clone- I would use a Charolais composite like Alias or maybe the Shorthorn bull Bearcat. Calves could be registered 1/4 blood Maintainers at least or Shorthorn Plus if out of Bearcat.

    Heatwave's dam clone

I was approached today by a gentleman selling exclusive cloning rights to the cell line of Heatwave's dam. I am told she was never cloned. I thought this might generate interesting discussion. What is the value of the cell line? Cost to clone? Is she pertinent in today's club calf industry...

    Purebred Chi bull Fonto

Thank you for the picture.  He looks to be one of the more correctly made bulls of that day.  Did I see he is registered #1 in the Chi book?

    Purebred Chi bull Fonto

Found some purebred Chianina semen in my dad's old tanks. Anybody interested in Fonto semen?  He was one of the early bulls. Anybody got pix of him from back in the day?

    Fullblood Maine Covino III semen

I found a cane of Covino III ampules among other old semen in my dad's tanks. Would there be interest if I held a rare semen auction this fall? One distributor lists it at $300, another at $150. Thanks

    LCR Sir Sam 880

I toured the farm back in 1974 during the National FFA Convention.  Very impressed. I recall the monument they erected for LCR Sir Sam 951 and the big Charolais bull as you turned down the lane to the farm.

    Simmental bull Florian

He was one of the earliest imports. Was he Swiss Simmental or Fleckvieh?

    LCR Sir Sam 880

He came from the famous Litton Ranch in Missouri, but I am not familiar with this bull.

    Earl Marshall Legend

I found a cane of Earl Marshall Legend ampules. He was a great Angus show bull in late 70's as I recall. Would he work today? Other comments- EPD's would probably be very low compared to today, but EPD's mean nothing in a ring.

More help with semen codes please

Thanks for the info. He had a few customers that bred Shorthorn so maybe there is a cane or two. He never bred his own cows Shorthorn but dis breed Angus, Simmental, Chianina, Maine, Blonde D'Aquitaine and maybe a Limousin. Could be some old purebred Chi in the tank and misc bulls but he bred...

More help with semen codes please

My father was a rep for Select Sires for over 30 years. I have purchased his farm semen tanks and semen inventory. I wrote down a few of the semen codes that were most common or easiest to read. I would appreciate help in identifying some of the bulls.  I will be a taking a full inventory and...

    Hydraulic hoof trimming chute

I attended a field day last year and watched a guy trim hooves using an upright hydraulic chute to trim hooves on cattle. It was slick and he trimmed feet in about five minutes per animal. Who makes these things and what do they cost? I am in central Illinois. Thanks !

I saw some last week in my local Buchheits farm store in Jacksonville, Il. There is a tarp manufacturer in Meredosia, Il that has a bunch of fabric and can make one for you.

Trying to register a 25% Simmental

I contacted the Supt who informed me the heifer does not qualify to show as she is not registered in a breed association.  He quoted page 63 of state fair rules. The State Fair does not consider CBCR a valid breed association. I sure would appreciate your help in getting her eligible to show...
