    I-80 -vs- Mercedes Benz

To those of you that have bred to I-80 or Mercedes Benz or both, I am looking for your thoughts and opinions. I have been seeing allot of good heifers at sales this fall out of both of these two bulls.  Mostly out of either Angus or Simm/Angus cows.  I am planning on purchasing semen on one of...

    Unstoppable Cows

Been looking at some heifers at online sales. Anyone have any experience with Unstoppable sired cows? I my concerns are... Mature height and length.  They seem a little to moderate framed and short sided? Pelvic size.  Too small? Milk?  Do they milk good? Front ends.  Are their offspring...

    Breeding results when using McKinley

The 3/8 Maine bull McKinley (Summit x OSU Ultra Son/Meyer) is a 2015 model.  His semen is sold through RS Pinnacle Sires. 1.  I am thinking there should be two calf crops on the ground from him.  Wondering how he has worked for you or what calves look like, that you may have seen out of him. ...

    Bush's Unbelievable Question

Has anyone had experience with breeding Bush's Unbelievable on crossbred cows? Will he ad depth of body and heart girth? How are his daughters proving out to be? Thanks!

Who is the best bull to use on "Clubby Type Cows" to make Club Calves?

Thanks for all the input on my post!  It is very appreciated and has been most interesting. The reason for my post was just not for myself, but for others as well.  I have visited with other cattlemen that have some of these "Clubby/More Terminal Type Cows".  While I totally understand the...

Who is the best bull to use on "Clubby Type Cows" to make Club Calves?

I have two Maternal Made calves this year.  A steer calf that is dirty fronted (and his dam is pretty good fronted) and not put together well.  However, he is thick topped, thick quartered and deep, and big boned.  The heifer is very good everywhere!  Out of a very good young, 3C Macho x...

Who is the best bull to use on "Clubby Type Cows" to make Club Calves?

Interesting responses!  Use a Shorthorn, a Simmental, or a Charolais.  I will continue to research and look at bulls.  Thank you! PS:  The bulls priced at $50+/unit for semen is, IMO too high priced to "experiment" or do a "trial" with. PPS:  Some of these cows (mutts) are actually pretty good...

Who is the best bull to use on "Clubby Type Cows" to make Club Calves?

no. IT IS WAY PAST TIME SOMEONE BREEDS OR PROMOTES ONE.  However, I am sure it would be difficult to breed.  But perhaps, not impossible? A Clubby Type Bull that has more frame, is TH and PHA clean, and has some performance or grow, big foot, and "loose" made (a little more sickle hocked and...

Who is the best bull to use on "Clubby Type Cows" to make Club Calves?

How about a % Chianina bull?  I know most of the "old school" Chianina bulls were too shallow and had zero hair.  How about any of the newer low % Chianina bulls? Perhaps any of the Horsley Brothers Chianina bulls?  Anyone have any experience breeding to any of the above bulls?

Who is the best bull to use on "Clubby Type Cows" to make Club Calves?

I still have a few "Clubby Type Cows".  Clubby in their genetics, they are straighter in their structure and not much growth.  Not bad, because it if they were very straight, they are gone...I would like to breed them to produce club calves. I have talked to other breeders and many have...

    Which Simmi Bull?

If you have a small-to-moderate frame angus cow that is deep bodied and deep ribbed.  IMHO:  Best "Old School" Simmental bull: Excellent structure, heaviest muscled, biggest butted, widest topped, great fronted, and best of all...his daughters make awesome cows...                            ...

A.I. Synchronization Protocols-Phase II or What to do with Non-Responders

Thank You CAB! I agree and had similar results as you when using a synchronization protocol and then trying to breed the non-responders based on TAI.  MIXED AT BEST! It is your last comment/recommendation on breeding non-responders that I am looking for a protocol to try this year. "How many...

A.I. Synchronization Protocols-Phase II or What to do with Non-Responders

Thank You SIMMGAL! I am a little confused.  In your first paragraph you mention predominately using CIDR protocols in your program.  Then in your second paragraph you mention giving all your PB cows two chances followed by TAI.  What protocol are you using for the first two chances?  Is it...
