    Nephews cheap fair steer...thoughts?

Well maybe I'm not sure what a deal price is...is $800 a deal? That's what we paid. Seems like every steer he has already looked at this year from other folks (not my friend) have been starting at $1200. For our dinky little fair it is just a waste IMO. Thank goodness my parents don't make him...

    Overhead fan arm

My dad is insisting on building (instead of buying) the upright fan stand to hold the fans in the barn at Jr. Nationals.  Can anyone help me out with the dimensions (as in how long is the arm that holds the fans and how tall)?  And a further question...do folks normally attach theirs to their...

    Nephews cheap fair steer...thoughts?

I am not sure, to be honest.  I didn't see him on the cow.  I will have to ask my buddy ;D  When we went to pick him out, he had about 8 nice black calves, a SUPER nice red calf (we couldn't afford-lol) and this spotted calf.  My nephew took ONE look at the pen and his shopping was done.  I want...

    Nephews cheap fair steer...thoughts?

On the move he is very sound.  Moves out really well...I wish our heifer moved out as nice!  And our fair just lumps everybody together, and I bet he will be nearly the only shorty (if not THE only)!  And competive?  Well, IMO about half try really hard...and the other half...you know how that...

    Nephews cheap fair steer...thoughts?

here is our effort for the local county fair...we intentionally don't spend a bunch on his steers but like to get them to their full potiental.  What do ya think?

What have you had better results with?

Epic, from Sunglo.  With liberal amounts of the aforementioned water hose.

    first non county show...advice?

Well I will give it a shot since no one else has offered any advise up...like your fair show, you will want your steer to be full looking.  To achieve this, we, in our experience, give the calves all the hay the want.  This will help with the full look without it costing you a ton of money or...

Settle an argument...who has to open the gate?

^^^This is the practice we most often use, but the boys were gone for the day...so...passenger SHOULD HAVE OPENED THE GATE!!!  We have had a ton of fun this evening reading him the responses...lol...I bet this will count as a lesson learned!! For those wanting to know...the Driver was my...

Settle an argument...who has to open the gate?

I totally agree about Grandpa...he has been exempt from opening gates since the late 80's..lol and type of brownie?  HOMEMADE for the offending party, BY THE DRIVER!!  Never has one person been so wrong [the passenger]

Settle an argument...who has to open the gate?

Settle an argument...who has to open the gate?

We just had this discussion at the barn and I told the offending party I would put it out to the professionals on the interweb... WHO HAS TO OPEN THE GATE...THE PASSENGER OR THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK? and as a side note I will add that the passenger thought that eating a brownie was enough of an...

    Washing white calves

I will say in our experience with my nephews shortie heifer, she had some spots on her that were blondfish colored hair...not possible to get white.  When we fIrst got her, we thought we just couldn't get her clean, but that turned out not to be the case...she had some blotches of darker (for...
