As XBar said, it really depends on how complex you want it... I myself am just starting out and it would range anywhere from 80-150 depending on the complexity of it all. :)

I spoke to Scot from Muridale in regards to getting some 14K semen, he said he didn't have any left. He noted that he really regretted not drawing this bull more. I think to find semen on this guy you'll have to do a lot of sweet talking to the right people that may have a few straws of him...

Is it just me or are the calves coming early this year? All of our calves have come 3/4 days early out if different sires and different maternal lines all together. Anyone else noticing this trend this year?  <beer>

A really good, and completely free (bonus!) program that is pretty comparable to photoshop would be GIMP. It's a little tricky to get onto, but once you do you're away to the races. www.gimp.org There should be plenty of good 'tutorials' on how to do things if you simply google your question...

That's so strange, over the past several years I have noticed the feedlots wanting the chromed up ones and go nuts over the roan cattle, be it a red roan or a blue roan. My dad is a commercial producer and has specifically selected genetics that give him a higher chance of the roan coloring...

If you're not used to it it's pretty darn cold no matter what tempature.  (lol) As far as vehicles starting... they sure didn't around our place. Thank goodness we had fed up for a few days, because our tractor was not having anything to do with starting haha.

It's just absolutely insane all across North America. I can't imagine how you guys feel that aren't used to this sort of cold and the animals. It's super hard on them. Good point about growing hair and getting animals to eat though! :) A few nights ago with the wind chill it hit right around...

I almost wonder if it's a bit of a vitamin deficiency? Perhaps White muscle? We've never had it in new born calves, but we have seen it in calves a week - 2 weeks or so old, and they act the way you're describing. Definitely keep us posted.
