    Junior sires

They look really good and seem packed with performance.  I'd be curious to see an updated picture of the white bull.

    Schrag sale

I don't disagree.  I just wish these metrics existed (backed by decent sample sizes) and had targets to give frame of reference.  Typically, I've seen them exist within herds, but not really mentioned on a larger scale.

    Schrag sale

To produce the ideal herd of commercially acceptable shorthorns, what will your measure of success be?  Specifically?  What's the combination of metrics and upper/lower control limits you will target, and then market as a consistent, high quality alternative to what's already being successfully...

    Dual, double registered shorthorn bull

Looks good John!  I remember seeing him last summer.  Do you know his registration number?

    NAME THE BULL!

Fair Acres Sultan, Renown, [Fill in the Blank] Sultan???  Impressive how big they were back then.

    NAME THE BULL!

I believe this is Avondale or his son Lord Avondale.  I don't know much about these bulls so I'd be interested in the history lesson.

Breeding on ability of the Shorthorn color pattern

We all know the color probability w shorthorns when mating red, white, and roan so I won't go into that.  However, from my experience I recall 3W Payoff throwing "loud" colors regardless of dam color.  I also remember a lot of red neck roans and some other "wild" colors by dividend when bred to...

    Shorthorn bulls of the 80s

Payoff was linebred dividend with a couple shots of dual (dairylou and R180)...he was also a sire of the year...his daughters were unbeatable at the time...I'm guessing he was in the 8+ frame range since he won at louisville in the late 80's....the other bulls siting champions around that time...

    Shorthorn bulls of the 80s

I love these old pics!  If I get time I'll scan my favorites which would be anything from Denver in 1987.  I think Seven T's Greg and Alexander were grand and reserve champion bulls (and you can't see the people standing behind them!).  If I could go back in time to one Denver show it'd be that...

THE MAN WHO DISCOVERED DIVIDEND_AND NEWER POSTS WITH DIVIDEND INFLUENCED CATTLE

I haven't seen the recent Shorthorn Country yet, but I'm glad to see a Dividend son being promoted. There's always talk about what to breed clubby bred cows to.  I don't have a herd of clubby cattle, but if I did I'd breed them to a full irish THF shorthorn bull (from the  irish Leader...

Good observations...must be a lot of demand!  One stop shop for semen, dresses, and tops! lol

    Checking Cattle Pictures 2012

I wish more people would post pictures of their cattle.  Having moved to an area without much livestock production I don't get to visit herds very often.  And, I get tired of seeing the same old thing in Shorthorn Country.  They say that a key to business failure is to stop selling your own...

    national champions at denver list?

I believe Cedar Curve Farrah was a two time champ in the early 90's...would have to confirm though.

What do you mean no commercial shorthorns?

Seems like going with Maine influence shorthorns would be more for maintaining a "show ring look", or keeping a club-calf revenue source open...rather than meeting the needs of the commercial industry.    When i think of the high birth weight stereotype i typically think of the modern maine...

National Shorthorn Show and Sale (AUS)

This is the one i picked out as well.  His condition looks heavy, but I was surprised by the comment about his grass test results.  If he's putting that weight on in the pasture I like him even better.

    NAME THE BULL!

I purchased it online.  Google the title and you'll find a bunch of sites selling it.  I think I paid $30. The only picture of him I had seen before this was in a Lazy D ad in an old Shorthorn Country...I think it was a color pic of him on pasture - not sure though.

    NAME THE BULL!

You got it!  I'm curious if you or anyone had seen this picture of him before.  I hadn't until I purchased a book last week titled Shorthorns in the 20th Century UK and Ireland.  There's a chapter on Irish shorthorns that's really interesting.  It includes this picture of Deerpark Leader and a...

    NAME THE BULL!

He's not Ayatollah (when you think of Ayatollah think giant, solid red, Illawara/Shorthorn/? cross.)  Here's a clue...believe it or not, he is a common ancestor of the following widely talked about Steer Planet Shorthorn bulls: Trump, Double Stuff, Proud Jazz, Timeline, Sonny, Gizmo, Wild...

    NAME THE BULL!

Here's a rarely seen picture of a very influential Shorthorn bull.  It might be easy to guess, but I think I've only seen one other picture of him.  Name the bull!
