    Shawn Varner

People that use public forums to bash people should take a moment to review their own actions, it does not make you better, exact opposite and if it makes you feel powerful you need to have your balloon of a head popped. I have never met this man but I find myself embarrassed for you for even...

    SWAG

Confidence. They get paid to glue up a leg and clip it out, lots of the time only one leg per animal. You hired them because you know their good, they know their good and in the end everyone that says nice leg  boosts them up even further. Plus the fitting pants, flatter brimmed hats style just...

Should sale catalogs still be mailed out?

Sale catalogues and Sire directories will never phase out. They are a critical part of establishing the brand of your program. They are a heck of a lot of work, cussing, re picturing, proof reading, designing and so on but they work. Lots have begun to run small ads in their books helping to cut...

How do you select your A.I. sires?

A picture is great to go off of and for Club Calves I would have to say the proof is in the progeny. Popular genetics are what they are but finding that consistent bull that sires the kind you can sell is the end goal. From a purebred side under other I would list Pedigree/EPD's and...

    Gold colored calves

Color is the hardest thing to predict in the club calf industry and becoming more popular every day. There are different diluter genes in many different types of cattle, some occur naturally while others are genetic abnormalities. With club bulls they have been outcrossed and bred back so many...

    I-80 son named Road Trip

I think marketing aside he is another bull that is meeting a demand in the industry for a low birth weight sire. I am willing to get 5 straws when its up here and breed a few to him, it also helps that his calves are registrable Chi.  36k for a 1/3 intrest, this is not the kind of money you only...

it also helps if you tie a string on a q-tip and drop it in your semen tank then press it on their first. they just fight less if it is a little frozen.

    My Feed?

Utilize resources around you. Nutritionists, consulting company, extension offices. There are lots of people out there that are willing to help if you just ask questions. Asking questions to better yourself is never, ever a bad thing. I work for an unnamed nutrition company and sell lots of...

    Wheatland Bull 169Y

I had talked to them at the sale. They were not sure what exactly they were going to do, had mentioned selling breeding packages. He is one of the best bulls I have seen. I would contact them if interested.

    Beet Pulp

Nutritionally beet pulp does not add much to a ration. It is a great roughage source that helps to keep animals full and to maintain proper ruminal function. It is fed mostly as a filler, after a while of feeding it on farm our calves will eat it straight. It does not have the greatest...

    Bull Calf

He looks like a solid made calf, we bred a few red factors and have a couple real good ones this year. He could work, it all depends on what part of the world you are breeding in. In Canada we like our calves a notch bigger, some of the best steers up here are 1325+. Chars naturally have more...

monopoly X irish whhiskey embryo calves

Color is one of the most variable phenotipical trait there is genetically. Some can be guessed at and when you breed cross bred animals on cross bred animals it can sometimes be a crap shoot. Just have fun with it!!

    Washing Steer!

any substance that has an oil in it. the ezall works pretty good, my grandfather always told us to use motor oil and a small paint brush, that is a little old school but it does work real well. wd40 works but it can dry out their skin.

    Hereford People

Herefords dint actually have to be vaccinated for pink eye or have special vaccinations themselves. They need regular vaccinations like any other breed, they are just red and white lol. We have been raising Herefords for 123 years and have never vaccinated for pink eye.
