self-catch head gate or a manual head gate?

I might suggest posting this on the "Big Show" board rather than the Help board, it won't get seen much on this board. I have a Priefert head gate that can be used as auto or manual. We always use it as manual as our animals are pretty quiet and to be honest, we couldn't get it to work as auto...

Calving Ease Sires:Ali Solution, Daddy's Money, No Worries

I had two Daddy's Money out of 2nd calvers. Bull calf was born at 273 days and was 75 pounds. The heifer calf was born at 277 days and was 69 pounds.  Personally, I won't be breeding any heifers to him, but I am going to use him again without a doubt. I'm happy with them. (I've posted younger...

    renegade blues?

I have one heifer out of an Angus x MA/SH cow. She was 89 pounds. She's not extreme in any way, but has started to thicken up as she's getting older. She a total ham and it's really hard to get her out of your face to take a good photo (as you can tell!) The second photo is crappy too, the...

    Daddy's Money Calves

Here is a photo of my second Daddy's Money calf, a 65 pound heifer, born 5 days early. She's about a week old in this photo. Both calves are filling out nice at a few weeks old. It's been sloppy wet here the last few weeks, hopefully once it drys out a bit I can get some updated photos.

    Daddy's Money Calves

I just had my first one, born at 274 days. 75 pound bull calf out of a 2nd calver. Too early to tell much, but he was up fast, strong and healthy so that's all that matters right now.  I have one more due March 9.

    Aggressive bull calf please help!

Aggressive or frightened? It might help to further elaborate on what is happening so someone could offer advice.

    Bull Flyer

Your first bullet point has a period, and the rest of the bullets do not. I would make them all the same, stupid little thing, but it jumped out to me since I've been scrutinizing my resume formatting all day! ETA--Good looking bull as well.

    No Surprise Bull

These were my two this fall. I kept the black and white heifer. The steer sold within days of being posted onto the classifieds here (he was only on feed about 7 days in the photo). Personalities were A+ on them. Sweetest calves I've ever raised from day one. The heifer is ham and very smart...

Opinion on heifers and thoughts for breeding?

I had kept an eye on that black and white heifer this fall when she sold, I have one I retained that I feel is pretty similar to her.  I'm interested to see what ideas you get.

    Evening pasture photo

Here is an updated photo of the No Surprise heifer.  She's 575 pounds, she's still pretty moderate. She's measuring just shy of a frame score 5, a little smaller than I would like but I'm excited to see how she matures.

    Bull test stations?

It's been a few years now, but when I spent a long weekend down at the the University of Idaho's Nancy M. Cummings Research Center for a Calving Management class we briefly visited the test bunks. They had the RFDI tags that signaled the computer and took the weight of feed before and after...

Weaning with Quiet Weans (nose clips)

We've used them for a few years and really like them. We had a heifer this year that figured out how to nurse this year, you could tell! She told us all about it, where as the others hardly made a peep.

Favorite calves of yours this year

My favorite steer is a No Surprise x Maine-Angus. Just got him cleaned up to post ads on this afternoon.

    Painted Red & White Bull

I've been pretty happy with two No Surprise calves I have although, as far as color, my understanding is that doesn't really pass on much of the color pattern based on asking around I did. I had one solid black, out of a Maine-Angus cow. The other got the white spotting/pattern out of a Maine x...

    Evening pasture photo

She's by far the most moderate calf I've got out of the blue cow, but seems to still have plenty of grow to her. The cows got a lot of frame behind her and she runs about 1650-1700 pounds. Her dam was a hard doing 3/4 Maine Cigar X Draft Pick that was about an 8 frame. I couldn't get her dam to...

    Evening pasture photo

This photo turned out pretty cool, so I thought I would share it. Nothing quite like winding down after a work day at sunset with the girls looking pretty in the pasture. This is my 9 year old 3/8 Maine by Moody Blues I've posted photos of before, she's raising a cool looking black and white No...
