Any program developers out there? Any heating detection apps you like?

I was poking around looking for something myself the other day and hadn't thought of a spreadsheet program. I have an iPhone and have their numbers spreadsheet app on it, that I never use, so when a spreadsheet when mentioned I thought I'd check it out. I got in there and it actually has a...

    Structure Wreck or ??

Thanks all, this calf wasn't pulled, but was unassisted at 102 pounds and a bit stiff as you'd expect with a calf of that size. Based on what I've seen since I posted these pictures I think he'll be fine, I'm kind of thinking along the lines that he was still straightening out from birth, then...

    Photo editing software

PhotoScape is free and has a clone brush tool that would work to take off a halter and has your basic color, exposure, contrast adjustments. If you start with a decent quality photo it does pretty good to polish them a bit.

    Structure Wreck or ??

Thanks everyone for the input.....I guess I'll just wait and see as long as he seems happy, spunky and able to get around good. He's certainly standing on them better when he hasn't been running laps around the pasture and is tired.

    Structure Wreck or ??

Hey All, I thought everyone was happy and healthy but I was out observing 30 day old calves on this one is looking to be bucking at the knees. A few days ago I noticed he popped one knee forward while standing on uneven ground, but I didn't think much of it. The last two days I've been looking...

    Breeding Question

I had a heifer last year that was standing at 24 hours, bred her at 36 hours after pulling the CIDR (Select Synch + CIDR) and she took. Caught me by surprise as she was standing about 24 hours earlier than I expected her to be.

    No Surprise Bull

I have two due in March, the 13th and 21st. I liked his cockiness and athleticism, that my older cow in particular needed. I'm anxious to see how they turn out. It was my first time doing my own AI work and I got them stuck both the first time, so I'm happy with semen quality, so it's a start...

The Cow Who Started It All-for me

Mine was a small 1st calf yearling Angus heifer, straight off the range in Eastern Oregon. She was sired by OCC Echelon 857E, and we had been sitting at Larks Dispersal Sale for 2 days and it must have been a last minute decision to buy a yearling heifer for me at the end of the sale instead of...

    A couple of calf photos

The first calf is a April bull sired by Ali, out of a Angus x Maine female. He is PHAF/THF by pedigree. With a weight tape he's right about 500 pounds a week ago. The second is a mid March steer sired by Eye Candy, out of a Moody Blues x Maine cow. He was taped at 550 pounds 3 weeks ago. ...

Anyone have experience with a small intestine blockage on a calf?

Well, so far so good. The calf came home the day after his surgery (Friday afternoon) and has been getting better every day. We finished up antibiotics yesterday. His appetite is fantastic and he is seems to feel good. So thankful it looks like we made the right call and have him going back in...

Anyone have experience with a small intestine blockage on a calf?

Update following the surgery: They found a bouncy ball sized wad of compacted hair and fecal matter. They were able to remove it with a small incision to the intestine. He was up and on his feet after surgery and now it's just a wait and see if that distension in the intestine returns to normal...

Anyone have experience with a small intestine blockage on a calf?

Frostback- Best of luck with the recovery for your calf! Unless something changed dramatically overnight, conversations with the vet last night were to go ahead with the surgery this morning. The calf is overall strong and in good shape, which should at least give him a bit of a leg up. It's...

Anyone have experience with a small intestine blockage on a calf?

My March 12 Eye Candy calf is camping out at the vet office already, but I thought I'd get some opinions/thoughts/experiences. A few days about a previously very heath, fast growing calf presented with obvious abdominal discomfort. Standing stretched, kicking at his belly, getting up, laying...

    Some new heifers

They are still on the cows and waiting for weaning for me to pick them up, but as soon as I do I'll be pulling tail hair on both of them and getting them tested. Hopefully the genetics will be on my side and she'll come back clean! I'm glad to hear you've got a Mossy Oak that is a good...

    Some new heifers

Just thought I would share a couple of pictures of my newest acquisitions. They aren't great photos, just snapped of them out in the field while I was looking at them. Hopefully they'll be solid heifers that will be good mommas for me in the future. No show ring in their future, just out pasture...

Eye Candy X Moody Blues Daughter

Yea, so far he's real fluid in his movement and we haven't seen any problems with him. I haven't had my eyes on him for about a month, but I get updates often as I haven't moved my cattle from Oregon to Idaho yet. When I last saw and haltered him he was traveling out great. Most laid back...

Eye Candy X Moody Blues Daughter

Hello again, since things have changed around I guess my old name is gone. It was AgVandal89. This is a bit of a continuation of an old thread. Here is the old thread talking about the Moody Blues cow...

    Youth Programs

Hello, for some reason my old account no longer works, I was previously AgVandal89. Anyways, while it's not exactly cattle related, cattle is my background and I though this would be a good place to do some digging on the topic here. I just found out I have a 2nd interview with a Horse Breed...
