    Steer getting taller, but not filling out.

    we have been experiencing the same thing with our Angus steer. he is a son of Sankeys Lazer our of an Iron Mtn daughter.  several people have suggested to us to push more energy, predominately Corn, was told as much as he would eat for the next month.

    Help heifer... How do we get more mass/capacity????

    How can we get more capacity without blowing out her brisket.... We stood 3rd in class probably profiled the prettiest, but the two in front of us just had way more mass...We feed steam crimped rolled oats, beet pulp, ground corn cobs, and just enough of a 14% ration to get her to clean it up...

    tips or tricks to get a steer to eat more? Thanks

    I also agree with the feed twice a day & also might try a supplement, like Moor Mans eat more or a apetite express... both of these help keep the good bugs going in their belly and help keep them on feed better.  also feed at the same times everyday (more routine the better for some of them)...

    I have reg angus cows.  Wanting to breed a couple this year to a clubby bull.  I have a couple options already in my tank... Opinions on Power & Balance bull.. Or Ida Man... Pics of power & balance.  Has anyone had experience with calves from this bull??

    I really like that shorthorn heifer.. she looks really nice... thank you to everyone for their comments so far... I really appreciate all the feedback on these calves.  Thats what I keep trying to tell myself that our goal is NJAS in July so sacrifice some greenness early to end at 12 o clock...

    the first pic is of our bred & owned heifer...  She is a June Burgess out of CM T816 IN Focus....  got the same response in ring with her.. too green & gave up to much condition to the calf in front of her..  was 2nd in class.

    February Classen heifer... she stood 3rd in class of 8 at our State Futurity show... Judge said she was too green to stand higher in the class.. Any opinions on the heifer are appreciated & how do you put more condition on without getting them fat and blowing out the brisket?

    i am an agent in KS, OK, and Iowa and write policies on cattle... the Hartford is where I write most of these policies.  They have different kinds of policies for cattle depending on what you want them for and to cover.  They do have a Full Mortality policy.. this is what I usually write on show...

    thank you cowboy_nyk!!!  I think the CM Cult Classic calf will make a pretty nice Angus Show steer / this will be the first bred & owned one in 4 years that we have had.. so kind of super excited for that aspect. The other one would make a good Bull, but with CED only +1,,, gets tough to sell...

    Which bull to use on her?

    american classic will add growth...  used him on a couple moderate 2nd calf heifers and the calves are phenominal... both of them equally as good...  calves were mid to uper 70's birthweight and have exploded with growth one of these calves is out of a iron mountain x TC Forever cow the other...
