First pic, the heifer calf up front is a Hatfield Governor out  of a first calf heifer, the calf behind her is a Hatfield Snowman steer out of...

That storm must have moved in to MB on Thursday while we were camping. Went down to 7 degrees at night and my 6 mo old daughter was wearing mittens and a fleece winter suit over her sleeper just to keep her warm!! The wind wrecked some guy's fancy fishing boat by smashing it into the dock over...

Shorthorn $ figures now have % rankings

I am totally confused, this is gonna take a while for me to learn. .....So, would Timeline have a negative because he hasn't been used on heifers yet (looking at the definition)  and you have to use him on heifers first before you get a more positive result?.... ???

I like the second one, but I am not an expert on picking a show steer. We show market steers. Are  they both pure black angus?

When I was out checking cattle I took some photographic images .

Without a word of a lie, it was a picture of Saskvalley Bonanza that got me seriously interested in shorthorns. Before that I still wasn't sure if shorthorn was the to go. He just keeps getting better! <party> Great stuff! Cool pics. Like the one with the bird!  (thumbsup)

    Commercial Shorthorns

Here is a pic of him from at least a month ago. I apologize for the quality. I think the yellow calf is a little heavy in the shoulder.... and he is well on his way to weighing 850 lbs by the time he weans in November. ( his 1/2 brother weighed 830) That's pretty heavy for a calf that needs to...

    Commercial Shorthorns

well for better or worse, we were given an offer to purchase a herd of commercial (mostly) shorthorn cows with calves at side, a few heifers and the herd bull. We took the plunge and bought the herd. Here are a few pictures of the new herd.

What would you do in this situation?

don't know much about the purebred business but what the other people said makes a lot of sense.  Good luck with your decision! And we would love to see a picture of the animal in question  (thumbsup)
