DF Waco x WF Athena W50H Shorthorn Bull Picture

Ya but look at it like I do now-- easy to save money, and not have to pick which females to grow out and keep back ;) For years, i bitched and bitched about not getting ewe lambs- finally decided ram lambs were so much better-- keep them until weaning- sort he great ones- and ship everything...

How important is a web site?

I'll 2nd the website being the most important promo tool we have.  It's amazing the level that having a website took us, not that the quality of our animals improved much, but the widespread knowledge of them did.  To date, we've sold into 18 states and Canada now- i wouldn't be close to that...

DF Waco x WF Athena W50H Shorthorn Bull Picture

Now Josh, I know you flushed with a bunch of sexed Waco semen last year-- and I'm guessing it wasn't male swimmers...

    I don't know that he's hit either maturity point yet <party> <rock> "growth curve."  ;) ;D

    Calving management and practices

not in the case of heatwaves....  I've seen often, those massive hipped muscle bound ones-- have tiny little pelvic

    Hannibal ?

Ironically- from personal experience, and what I have seen-- I barely think DS and DV breed similar...  maybe it's the other side of the equasion, but DS seems to be the smallest cows, and DV the biggest...

    Calving management and practices

We're breeding our heifers younger-- to red maine purebred bulls, or like I like to say-- generic angus.  once that heifer hits 12 months- she's getting heat checked--  by 13 months, it's a good chance, they've been AI'd already... We had a red angus bull here that was calving ease on jersey...

    A couple of heifer calves

The blue roan heifer is a tick straight fronted-- when she is moving, her head is not in show position.  I'd like to see her track wider from behind, especially considering her upper skeleton mass and width.  Flexibilty, I think she's fine with.  This heifer is geared perfectly for somebody...

Solid Red, Polled Shorthorn Bull Calf

The way I understand it, if it's scurred and you leave them on... register as polled...  If it's scurred and you take them off-- register as scurred... This calf will remain 'polled'. Been thinking about his masculinity problem- and I attribute that to the hair on the back of his neck being...

    A couple of heifer calves

Amazing what a little grain will do for one's body condition...  Those hard fleshing cattle I post-- typically don't have a very show heifer like, luxurious lifestyle.  I've got bred heifers here, that haven't had 50 pounds of grain in thelr life...

Solid Red, Polled Shorthorn Bull Calf

Yes Doc, those are scurs, not attached to anything.  Didn't even know they were there before we started knocking hair off.  I could be like everyone else, and knock them off for the sale, but won't. Here's the MO Bull-- just needed time-- hard to argue it being the same bull.  Not sure what...

    A couple of heifer calves

Neither-- just making good muscled, eye catching animals that perform with minimal grain (most of the time), and still do well when put to grain for sales... Justin, your june heifer looks interesting- It suprised me she was a plus-- seems like plenty of pluses entered in the sale. Another...

Solid Red, Polled Shorthorn Bull Calf

Bull from MO just needed a little more time. This one is same way, he  just needs more time...  With that said, he'll be a better bull down the road. Here's his basically full brother-- the bull that won MO. Tight sheath huh?  He just needs time, not sure if he'll be ready yet or not...

    Question about Sull Achiever calves

Doesn't matter- it's an achievement that's not been done since, by anyone... Now, go and leave a comment on the calf pictures I just posted.

    Question about Sull Achiever calves

Your right show boy.. I'd encourage you to find how many two time National Champion females have been in the Shorthorn breed... I'm betting one in the course of time, and she's the exact same genetically as this group of cows at my place.
