    Pretty good day

Today I had our vet out to preg check a few cows and a couple heifers for me. Well the two heifers and one cow that we AIed were all confirmed pregnant which I was vey pleased with considering those are the only three AIed. Then I had them ultrasound two cows I put embryos in and one was...

Our new heifer what do you think?

She doesn't look too bad but personally I'm not a big fan of navels especially I would probably get rid of that if I had her in my pasture but otherwise she looks pretty good

    Humane handling and raising articles

In all honesty I have tried to have these conversations with people who are uneducated about how we raise and handle livestock and it typically gets me pretty hot because you can show them all of the facts that you want, done by independant researchers and they still will not believe it because...

    Angus Bulls Help!!

I really like the bull MCATL Pure Product. The calves come small and grow. I currently have a heifer that is in my show string that is exactly what you have described but she does have a little leather up front, not talkin simmi leather but some. She comes out of a cow that has some rib but...

    Femininity by Oxy-gen

Just curious what the generic lut is? I don't see anything in the description of ingredients that suggest to be that? This is where I looked http://oxyinfo.com/zen/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=23_28&products_id=43

    iowa state fair

Rodger Allen use to manage Triple C Simmental in Emerald, WI before it was dispersed and then worked for Damar Farms which was Simmental and Red Angus. As far as the type of cattle he like I couldnt speak on that but the guy flat out knows good cattle!

    show steer will not lead

I really like the slide ring halters that sullivans has when breaking calves. I have made my own by putting a quick link chain link in there instead of the ring because I do not believe those rings hold up the best. It works great to teach the calf that if there is pressure on their nose they...

    Questions about Oat Hay

I have done this before and we baled them relatively wet and wrapped them for balage and the oats were headed out pretty good and we never had a problem with them bloating.

    Halter Sores

I wrap my halters in vet wrap on the parts that go over their nose and around their neck so that they do not get sores. But I agree with XBar the calf should be easier to walk around with those areas being sensitive and sore.

    Bulls for angus heifers

I would not use Darkhorse on heifers. If you like the SAV bloodlines a proven bull would be SAV Bismarck that would be calving ease. His calves are also very marketable also.

San Diego votes in non-meat Mondays in schools!!!

Its just like anything, they will believe what they want to believe, to justify believing it even if it is a bold face lie. You can show them as many scientific studies done as you want that proves it is safe and it wont change their mind.

    "Fluffy Cows" Reddit AMA

To me it doesn't matter if they are show cattle or commercial cattle when it comes to the public we need to stick together and educate the general population. The general public is already trying to take down our industry we dont need to do it to ourselves. There are many posts on here talking...

    "Fluffy Cows" Reddit AMA

I agree. But by this becoming such a big deal and with some of the quotes about the picture and questions that were asked it shows that we as an industry need to try and reach out and show "city folks" what we do and how we do it. Maybe it wont matter because some of the questions are bordering...

    "Fluffy Cows" Reddit AMA

All I can think of while reading this is that the cattle industry is in trouble if people really think like they ask questions on there.

    cidr question.

I am currently having the same problem at my place. Same protocol and they are now 10 days past pulling the cidr and 0/3 have shown heat. I have estrotect patches on all three of them so I know I haven't missed them. Tonight I am running them back through the chute and giving them all another...

    Standing Heat patches

I really like them especially since i have a job off the farm at least it gives me a good indicator of when they come into standing heat. But one way to solve the adhesive problem is spray some tail adhesive on first then stick them on. Havent had a problem when i have done that.
