    Show Bloom vs Oxyexplosion

I don't have any experience with oxy but show bloom will help them gain, will put muscle on them, help keep them on feed, and help grow hair.  The yeast helps keep the rumen running in tip top shape so they utilize their feed better, not just the protein in the supplement itself

    Questions asked during shownmanship

My favorite to ask is what are the strengths and weaknesses of your calf.  A good showman will point out everything above average and briefly mention the most obvious flaws, downplaying them os course

    Favorite Clippers for Shaving

You're very welcome.  As long as you keep the blades lubes you shouldn't have any troubles.  And make sure the cattle you clip are clean and you can clip a lot of cattle before you need to send them for sharpening

    Favorite Clippers for Shaving

I've always used the T-84 because mine is from before I found that they offered T-10, and I've body clipped several calves with them and done more heads/necks/briskets than I can count to with them

    Favorite Clippers for Shaving

I love my Andis Lightspeeds for everything from shaving to show day leg work.  THe T blade makes short work of heads and necks, even a body clip job doesn't take long with it.  They're fast, quiet, and cool, and the light is handy in a dim barn

    Sick Cow? Please Help

sounds like retained placenta or a some tearing during the birth.  Caling the vet was the best thing you could have done.  Did he by chance give oxytocin to help placenta shed?  If it's been 2 weeks she's had plenty of time to get that sick from any type of complication that may have arisen...

    Feed Additives

We always added peanut oil, mineral, a little soybean meal, and show bloom, with maybe a little milk replacer as they reached finishing in addition to more oil and more overall fat in the feed

    Question from judge, appropriate?

In judging a few showmanship classes I have asked pedigree just to see how much the kid knew.  Usually I would ask the open ended question: What can you tell me about your calf's pedigree?  Had a kid or 2 that could tell me everything for 3 generations and some kids only knew the sire and maybe...

    Show Bloom vs. Sure Champ

I second showsteernc, we actually feed both to our calves in the show barn.  They have different ingredients with different purposes, both are good products

    Lactation Pellets?

how old is the calf?  Is the cow in good BCS?  She could be naturally starting to dry up as the calf requires less milk.  I have one cow that dries up at 4 months postpartum every year but her calves are always in the top half at weaning weight time.  I have no experience with lactation pellets...

    When to castrate?

And I can tel ou for a fact that the moon affects whether you'll have enough dirt left over to repack a post hole.  Some phases you won't have enough and some you'll have half again as much as you need.  I'm not sure why but my Granddaddy taught me that and I have seen it to be true

And another trial confirms it. Best Breed ever.

Because CAB is the biggest and most successful marketing campaign in the history of the commercial food industry

    Opinions on calf please!

If you decide to make a go of it, feed him a 5-6% fat feed from day 1 and he should finish as best as his genetics will allow as soon as possible.  That's how we always feed char cross calves for shows and we have yet to have one that doesn't finish when we need them too (usually 12-1300 lbs...

I just sold a dozen of what you're looking for to kids for our county show, had a few that would have been really competitive anywhere and all will do well at our county show.  Sorry I didn't see your post earlier today

    Cow Hide Rugs

They are great, and you'll probably get it back on the 6 month side of that window.  That's what they always told us and we almost always got them back by 7 months.  The do a lot of deer hides and gators, which is why they take a while, but it is well worth it.  Last time we were there they had...

    Cow Hide Rugs

Sebring Custom Tannery in Sebring did all of ours in 3-4 months for less than $200 apiece and they are great, just send them a frozen hide and they do everything and fedex it back. 29 Webster Turn Drive  Sebring, FL 33870 (863) 655-1600 I would call them about shipping directions because we...

    Cow Hide Rugs

all of the western stores around here carry a few, we always had our show steer hides tanned hair on.  We have some black, gray, white, brindled red, and black with chrome and love them.  You can also vacuum them without fear of the hair slipping as well
