I dont know what Preview Show your talking about, but I agree on the quality of Wes Hudson's judging.  I showed to him many times growing up and while he didnt always like my cattle, his reasoning was spot on, he tells it like it is, and kids walk out of the ring knowing why thier calf fell...

I agree there are some nice heifers in there, but in my opinion there are not $20,000 worth in the bunch. Unless cattle prices are a LOT higher in Canada than they are here.  In which case I would start marketing everything north of the border!

well the key is to have the iron COLD...we dont use nitrogen because of the expense...we use dry ice and denaturing alcohol...work just as goo you just have to let the iron sit in the mix a little longer than you do the liquid nitrogen...the key is when you put the iron in, wheter its the dry...

I think all are good fundraising ideas, however you have to be careful raffling off straight up cash or even those pre-paid visa cards...in most states to do that you have to have a gambling license and you get taxed like crazy for it...I dont know where you are at or what your states rules are...

I think he is a very nice american calf...seems to have some pretty good thickness from what we can tell in the pics, at the least he is adequately boned, and from the levelness of that topline I would say he probably has to have a pretty good loin in him, and he looks like he has some good rib...

I am not sure with all the percentage registries...but with the ones I am familiar with I think both sire and dam have to be registered...even if they themselves are registered as percentages...most associations these days want to be able to track EPD's and know for sure what they are putting...

I agree with the guy who said Angus would be the last he would recomend on temperament...I showed Angus growing up and I am not saying they are all bad, or bad all the time...but the thing I hated about them was I never knew what to expect...one day she could be your best friend and follow you...

No problem.  Everyone has made good observations here, but I think he will do just fine as an American, but it looks like those ears could be trouble to me.  Its gonna be close if he has enough, but even if he goes Exotic he is a great calf to feed for your first time!

I think more information is needed to answer this question.  Like what do you want in a heifer? What is your end goal? Are you looking to start a herd or just show? If you are gonna breed her and raise a calf, are you going to raise purebreds or clubbies? What is your climate like? How much are...

I think this is a very nice steer for your first show steer.  If he classifies american in this slick show then I think he has plenty of style and type.  Hard to tell if he has enough ear to classify from this pic though? He does have a bit more leather up front than most of the people on here...

Ft Worth for sure..Houston and San Anantonio are both great but I prefer the fitted steers and the history that comes with Ft Worth
