Today is inspection day. All the bulls are being weighed, scanned and for the first time, independently assessed by vets for soundness etc. Dan, I think you should come next year; then I'll fly back with you  ;D

A few details on Calibre: By Allendale Waterhouse D1 and from Allendale Dawn C62 (by Allendale Robin Hood Z239, and from a National W168 cow). He weighed 1100kg (2425lb?) with a 143 square centimetre eye muscle area, 22 millimetres fat on the rump and 16mm fat on the rib, with a 47cm scrotal...

With the current lull in the cattle market down under, everyone was pretty cautious heading in to the National Poll Hereford Show and Sale at Dubbo earlier this week. But thanks to some big station orders, and top quality bulls, the sale exceeded expectations and in fact, broke the top price...

You know how I feel about this cow/unit.... I think I'm going to get "lost" coming home from Argentina  ;)

He's quite a standout Dan. He was the supreme Shorthorn exhibit at Sydney Royal and was pretty unlucky in the interbreed - though he was in the top five both individually and in the pair with the grand champion female.

Z109 does have a huge EMA... here's his latest EBVs. In fact, he's a trait leader for four traits. My Scotty cow seems to hit the mark each joining, don't think she's had a bad calf yet!

Here's my Scotty cow.... out of a Broughton Park Baron 3 first calver (during the drought) and with a bull calf by a son of Belmore Jackaroo Z109 (a Scotty son) that performed well in the carcase comp he was entered in.
