A phenomenal result at today's National Poll Hereford Show and Sale in Dubbo, NSW. 117 from 120 bulls sold for a $9034 average. Top price was $80,000 for Tycolah Jovial F77, a son Karina Cherry. Jovial was the junior and grand champion bull at last year's Sydney Royal, then returned this year...

Here's the link to the National Shorthorn Show and Sale catalogue, to be held next Tuesday and Wednesday, June 12 and 13, in Dubbo, NSW. There are some really good bulls catalogued for this year; hopefully the sale goes somewhere near as good as the Poll Herefords did today...

He sells next Wednesday. Really strong line up of bulls for this year!

I do too... if he was keeping his jewels. Cutting him Monday/Tueday and the plan is to show him as a steer at the Shorthorn feature show in September. I only hope we can get enough fat on him... not concerned about the muscle or weight part.

Good shape on the Timeless, LOVE the Winalot (no surprise seeing as I love the bull) and the Trudy May calf is sweet  (thumbsup)

That Captain calf is pretty stout. The Julie calf is as predictable as always :) I like the Minnie Searle calf too.

That was my explanation... the good eating qualities must definitely come from the Shorthorn part of their heritage!

I'm becoming more and more appreciative of the Speckles. Sure, they have their issues, but what breed doesn't? And, even as a Shorthorn breeder, I'm prepared to admit that the best steak I've had was a Speckle Park (yes, it hurts to admit it!).

Nothing is as satisfying as that hard copy catalogue or newsletter, which you can carry with you and constantly flick back and forth through, or refer to on the move.

I read this essay earlier and couldn't echo the sentiments any more accurately. I pride myself on being able to take decent livestock photos, that can go straight to promotional use without editing. If you are digitally altering images to make them look better, then that's false advertising...
