Thoughts on this Monopoly X Dr. Who (son) steer

I'm not worried he will grow.  his mother was short and then just took off when it came time.  The person holding him is 5'3".  Just curious on everyones thoughts.  I am not showing him, he isn't the right age for any county fairs around here and wont have enough power from behind to be a really...

    Man Among Boys Question

I have seen quit a few calves in sales this year that are out of Man Among Boys and I really do like them.  My question is what type of cows has he been clicking the best with.  I have a cow that is very terminal in her look, has been since day one.  I am wanting to breed her to something that...

    steer not gaining

What is the nutritional analysis of the feed you are providing to him? If you can give us the data from the feed tag or some data if you are feeding a home remedy it could help some of us figure out if it is meeting his maintenance requirements.  To get any animal to grow you first have to meet...

Thoughts on this Monopoly X Dr. Who (son) steer

This steer is sired by Monopoly out of a Dr. Who son cow that I bought from Mike Koch.  He is currently eating 12lbs of feed twice a day and ways roughly 600 lbs. Sorry I don't have any scales to get an exact weight.  He was born the last week of June 2012.  Just curious what everyone's thoughts...

    Blackleg??

We have had calves die from black leg.  Really the only way you can tell is by cutting the skin over the brisket, between the front legs.  If the muscle is red, pink and looks healthy then no it wasn't black leg.  If the muscle looks purple/black and when you touch the brisket feels and sounds...

Doing a school project, need ideas and data concerning cattle

you could do the statistics of cull cows.  Culls cows for a cow calf operation USUALLY are around 30%.  You could relate this back to how it would mean a decrease in the total number of calving cows for a particular operation.  Cull cows doesn't just mean old, broke mouth cows.  It also covers...

    Plans for Stall Panels

I made my own in high school.  All I did was call sullivan's, told them I was wanting to make my own and they gave me all of the dimensions.  They didn't know the gauge of the pipe though.

New Show to the Circuit in Kansas-Just an idea

I am thinking about having another show in Kansas at the State Fair grounds.  Much like the Kansas Beef Expo and KSU AGR Kick-off show. My idea, making it different from other shows, is that proceeds would go to a charity or Foundation.  I know there is a show in Texas cattle "Bovines for...

    Fire Water???

I'm not just restricting myself to steers. I would like to keep back heifers and not have to sell them because they are to terminal in their make-up.  I would really like a proven bull, thats why I was thinking Firewater.  I really like his females.  Excellent udders and loads of femininity.

    Fire Water???

I am thinking about breeding one of my cows to Fire Water this year.  I was just curious on the birth weights of the Fire Water calves.  The cow I want to breed him to is pictured, sorry that was the best picture I have of her.  She is a very clubby female and I would like to get a little less...

    Man among boys?

You know Carlson you really have some nerve getting on someones topic and hijacking it so you can get an answer on some cow that you can't decided who to bred what bull too. Where I come from that is the rudest thing you can do to someone.  I mean if you can't make a decision on what bull you...

    CARCASS DATA ?

From my SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess), I have determined that your bull should have a Required Rib Eye Area (RREA) of about 19.4, this being that he has a Dressing Percentage(DP) of 64%(could be much lower).  Side note- DP only used to determine Hot Carcass Weight (HCW).  If he has a back fat...
