    Looking for a Steer!!

I know it is getting late in the year, but a little boy is looking for a steer for his county fair.  County fair is first week of August.  Would like to keep it around $1,500 and not travel very far.  We are located in East Central Kansas.  If anyone knows someone or has one I would love it if...

Totally off the wall question here...

No it should not have to do with the coat color at all.  If the calf is out of a black cow and sired by a black bull, but comes out red that means that both parents(cow Rr and bull Rr) have a recessive gene (r-recessive gene red) thus the calf comes out red.  The black nose indicates the calf...

    Opinions on bull calf

yes, he is very straight on the legs from end to end.  He is growing out of it a little, but I am afraid he will not come out of it all the way.  The angle of the picture is not the best.  Thank you all for your comments.

    Opinions on bull calf

This little guy is sired by DH2 and out of a Jimmy the Greek heifer (calf pictured in my avatar).  He was born the end of July, so he is still really green.  please fell free to leave your comments, they are greatly appreciated.

    Big Jim halter

I have used on a couple of times and so far it has helped out a bunch.  DO NOT leave it on all the time and DO NOT let them eat or drink with it on.  It will cause a major indention on the bridge of the nose.  At least it did for me.

    Black & White Steer

If you mix some OXY clean, Lemonade juice and baking soda together with some vinegar it usually helps remove the stain.

    Is she a candidate?

If you get one of the purple neck sweats watch to make sure that she doesn't rub it off or another calf eats it, had some heifers do that one year and when they came into the barn the next morning the neck sweats were gone.  So I ended up buying a leather one, they work well.  I also used the...

    Bucking bull videos on TouTube

The reason they ride with no hands is because they dig their spurs into the side of the bull so they can hang on.  Unlike how bull riding is here in america, the bull riders hold on with one hand and can spur with one or both legs kind of like when you see a bronc rider.

    Thoughts on this steer?

When I sold him in march he was eating 20 lbs of feed and weighed about 885 lbs.

    Thoughts on this steer?

He finished out at 1053.  The people I sold him to didn't really understand how to feed a "show calf".  I wish he would have weighed around 1350 but there was nothing I could have done.

    The Smart Senasation Brush

I have one and have had it for about two months.  I have used it to clip about ten head of calves and it works very well to get the hair to pop and give a fresh look when you are getting ready to go into the show ring.  I thought it was worth the purchase.

    Promotional Bulls?

I have two bull calves right now.  One is a Monopoly out of a Dr. Who son cow, the other is a Bodacious X Jimmy the Greek (heifer in my avatar picture).  I will have to get some pictures when it is a little dryer out.

    Thoughts on this steer?

This is a steer that I sold last year. He is out of a purebred Simmental cow and sired by Tyson.

    Promotional Bulls?

I have a bull calf that I would like to use as a promotional bull out at National Western this year.  I was curious as to how much it all costs, what people think about taking a promotional bull out to Denver who have done it before.  As well as any other advice or comments.
