If she is looking for a calf to just be a buddy for the calf she has now, I would suggest going to a dairy farm somewhere close. I feel they might be a little more willing to give up a calf. JMO

Well I am glad you didn't take what I said the wrong way. I hope everyone doesn't think I was trying to bash shorthorns, about 90% of my herd are shorthorns and I truly enjoy the breed and the people that are apart of it.

Ha Ha I was kind of wondering the same thing.

I have always wrapped the chains just above the dew claw, pull when she pushes and keep a constant pressure when she isn't (enough so you don't lose any progress). If the calf is hip locked try to spin the calf sideways and pull. That is what I have always done. 

I haven't read what this situation but I thought I would add this joke. There was a CHI, Angus and Hereford in a pasture. A plane flew over and spooked the cows, the Chi ran and jumped the fence the Angus ran through the fence and the Hereford prolapsed.

Is there a link to that article. I'm just wondering why this is not on national news. It seems to me the news is so quick to put blame on farmers and ranchers for the mishaps of a few bad people, but a woman that hires a hit man to kill a random person because they are wearing fur,  it's hush hush. 

So is everyone using him on heifers? Is anyone using him on mature cows? just curious
