    Durham Red Bulls

X_Bar, Incorrect.  In your "perfect world" of crossbreeding using phenotypically different parent stock, yes you will have considerable variation in type and kind of offspring.  The fact you have brought up in other threads about having to use phenotypically opposite parents for maximum...

    Durham Red Bulls

You are'nt using your head when making statements like you made above.  Crossbreeding is NOT quantum physics!  In theory, what would be wrong with using a SimAngus bull on F1 shorthorn x hereford cows?  One could enter a variety of different breeds into this equation and it STILL would not be...

Who are these two shorthorn bulls

Yeah, other than Red Cloud has twice the lower quarter and twice the flank depth as Touche, I would say that you are spot on!  :-\

Who are these two shorthorn bulls

Not sure where the entire Brentwood herd ended up but Dale Studer must have purchased Brentwood cattle at some point because I bought a Eionmor Ultra 8K daughter from Dale that was out of a Brentwood cow.

    Durham Red Bulls

What the heck does it matter if you use a F1 or the resulting progeny of breeding F1 parents to each other??????????????  In my opinion, there are tons of great crossbred bulls out there, and not just clubbies.  SimAngus, Durham Reds, Durham Blacks, LimFlex etc.  These cattle have a lot to offer...

New Angus Ads (no need for crossbreeding)

First of all, what the h is a simile?  (lol)  Second of all, I know there have been several people in my area that think that there is no need for any other breed besides angus.  There were more people that thought that very same thing even five years ago than there are today but many have...

    Carpe Diem Calf

I got a Carpe Diem heifer calf this year out of a red brockle cow that is 1/2 shorthorn, 1/4 sim, 1/4 red engus and the calf is a yellow color with a sizeable star at the top of its head and white rear legs.  Looks like the thickest, stoutest guernsey calf youve ever seen!  (lol)

    HIGH ALTITUDE DISEASE

Yes, they do need to be at a high elevation to learn anything.  You can pap test at sea level and it aint gunna tell you squat about what that critter would test at 7500 feet.

    Capiche Calf Pictures

How many Capiche calves have you seen dogger?  Or are you making these statements based on who Capiche's sire is? What is "real worl performance" to you?  1000 pound creep fed SAV weaning weights?  I run my cattle pretty tuff and my Capiche calves werent the heaviest on the ranch but they...

    Shorthorn

There are 2 shorthorn breeders in the US that I am aware of that have multiple (more than 2 or 3) generation carcass oriented cattle.  I have used cattle from one of these firms with good success on the grid from the resulting progeny.  The bull that I would use in a commercial herd for terminal...

How to salvage older quality bulls

I don't think this is a bad idea and really think a person can inject some high quality, proven genetics with minimal financial expenditure.  I have done this very thing on occasion with mixed results.  The number one thing a person must consider is if the bull has lived in an environment...

A&T Renegade 124 calves and video

Those calves look really nice, JTM!  I got my first Renegade yesterday, born unassisted, 72 pound bull calf, unfortunately when I found the calf it was still warm, but had its head folded underneath itself and was dead.  It really made me upset as this was one of my more exciting matings with...

    Drought Predictions

I bought a feed truck on sunday with hopes that I can feed at least my best 100-150 cows this summer if need be.  Pastures are roached, damn little moisture this fall and winter and current conditions dont look favorable.  I freeze branded heifers friday in jeans and a wife-beater!  65 degrees...
