Is Heatseeker still being used and his progeny saleable or has everyone moved on to the latest-greatest and more reasonable priced bulls?

need advice- county fair sale rules

Our County Fair Livestock Auction: We sell only livestock, no exhibit hall projects, no funds generated for the exhibit hall projects.  Don't even want to think about that nightmare.  It's bad enough when a pen of rabbits or chickens sell for $300 - $500 (these are not the Grands or Reserves)...

    I 80 x Grizzly bull calf

What was his birth weight and calving experience?

    No Worries

DUFF Hobart is an Angus I like but when there are clubby type bulls with some maternal genetics and acceptable birth weights, they might fit my program better.  Not sure how an Angus sired steer would sell as a club calf.

    No Worries

Anyone have or expecting calves by No Worries?  Thinking of using him on a Man Among Boys x Who heifer.  Not sure if she is clean but No Worries in double clean.  Plus I-80 and Irish Whiskey are more maternal compared to the HW in MAB.  Should be nice if we get a heifer.  Also thinking about...

    I-67

Anyone have any experience using I-67?  His neck looks a bit thick or short.  How do his calves do with movement, structure, size, disposition, pretty much your overall opinion?  I have a Man Among Boys heifer to breed this spring.  Man Among Boys is out of a Who cow and this heifer's dam is...

    Jessie James

How is the structure on this bull, especially his hind legs?  In a promo picture he looks straight in the rear and a bit narrow in the hocks.  Has anyone seen him on the move?

    Question about registering ShorthornPlus

I just registered a Shorthorn Plus heifer online and a few weeks ago registered a Plus steer and didn't have any problems.  The heifer's dam was a commercial/non-shorthorn breeding that I had to register as a foundation dam.  The sire was purebred Shorthorn.  The steer was out of a crossbred cow...

Has anyone heard anything or seen the breds in the 2013 sale?  What do they usually sell for?

Bull Bred Heifers Becoming Hard A.I.er's

Has any one had or heard of problems getting cows to breed AI after they were bred by natural service as a heifer?  I see most if not all of Sullivan's breds are bred natural service and have heard a few problems getting them bred AI in subsequent years.  Is this because of the first breeding...

    Maternal Legends Sale

What would a bred horn in Sullivan's sale go for?  Not the top end, but one with some show history in her pedigree, decent made, from a popular cow family.  If you take out the top end and bottom sellers, what does the middle third or half average?

RC show cattle "early bird sale" results

I don't have many of the first 10 that sold as I was on the phone at that time taking phone bids and couldn't keep up.  The ones I missed I'll get when I get the sale report as we were one of the consigners.  Everyone was very happy with the results and thank everyone attending for their...

    Melatonin

I have read a few things about giving melatonin to calm a calf.  I even tried it years ago but wasn't sure on the dosage.  I have read on a previous post to give a fat steer 100 mg./day.  What about a 500 - 600 lb. prospect heifer?  Would the dosage be less and how much?  How long does it have...

Calf Has Sudden Loss of Mobility

As far as I can tell he has not lost any sight, or if he has, very, very little.  So it could be circling disease rather than polio.

Calf Has Sudden Loss of Mobility

I always like to hear how things turn out after people post help to a question so I know what worked and what didn't, so here is the results to my new topic. The calf was bloated but it was due to another problem.  The vet wasn't sure if it was polioencephalomalacia (PEM) or listeriosis...

Calf Has Sudden Loss of Mobility

When feeding this morning we found a 5 month old steer that didn't want to get up.  He finally did with difficulty but can't control his rear legs.  He staggers and has to lean on a gate or fence to keep from falling over.  He and 4 others have plenty of room in and outside the barn.  They are...

    Blower Hose

OK, now what!!!!!  Ordered a complete hose assembly from Sullivan, large hose, small 6'. blower tip.  Received them Friday, 8/16, used twice on 3 calves each time and the small hose has a hole near the end 6" from the tip.  What the h*** is going on?  The tip they sent is a regular size that is...

    Blower Hose

Talked to Sullivan's before I read the replies, but thanks for offering your help.  They knew right away what we did after I described our set-up.  With a double blower you have two options.  1.) Use only the 15', two inch diameter hose intended for a double blower; or 2.) Use the 15' plus the...

    Blower Hose

We have a double blower we purchased a year ago and have used very little, 6 - 8 calves.  Most of our calves are worked through July and Aug. and sold in early Sept.  We do not show.  We are having trouble with the hose.  It is getting holes blown through it.  We tape it with duct tape and the...
