    Clipping/Fitting Videos

Anyone able to recommend clipping and fitting videos? Do you like Steiwalt, Guyer, or McCullough videos? I am trying to get some young showman more involved in the process and it would help to have a more accomplished perspective.

    Simmy folks - Question

Card Uproar and JF American Pride are bred that way.  American Pride has been used some, and looks to be around 500 registered as his get of sire.  I am sure there are some opinions here on what to use the dream on with.

    Questions on Calves under Fans

How long are you guys going without water?  We are gone at work for 10 hours or so and want to make sure we are ok to not have anything in front of calves for 10 hours or so.

    Questions on Calves under Fans

I had a few questions on what you do when you put calves under fans. Do you keep them tied all day? If you keep them tied how do you provide water? Do you keep hay in front of them at all times under fans?

Labeling- Meat in US Country of Origin yeah or not

This has been a tricky subject for the meat industry.  I don't think the meat trade is really against traceability and giving the consumer choice.  Country of origin wasn't consumer driven program, so there is no financial incentive to do it.  The biggest issue is that cattle or hogs processed...

    Name that Bull!

GLS New Direction Heads Up has some white on his face he should be having his second calf crop. Is Make it rain calving ease?

    K-Ler Make It Rain

I noticed the same thing.    CE must have dropped when 2013 calves were registered.  Made me nervous as we had an In Dew Time heifer bred to him.  Ended up calving fine with a 78 pound heifer calf.  The in dew time heifer herself was small at birth, so that played in our favor.  Only a few days...

    Anyone have Combustible Calves

Any more comments on calves out of simmi bulls?  Sure seems to be a large number of bulls being marketed with some good qualities.  Even some viable outcrosses to the Dream On and Upgrade bloodlines.

    Anyone have Combustible Calves

We just have one combustible bull calf.  He's plenty stout with a big top and hip.  Plenty of bone.  I thought he was shorter fronted than I expected, as her previous calves have been ok fronted but not choke fronted.  I know one isn't enough to base an opion off of.  He also is  follow you...

Vin Mar O'Reilly Factor and GVC Settler

I think the champion foundation sim in MN was an Oreilly Factor.  Have hfr to Oreilly Factor in a couple weeks as well.  On the flip side I have not seen many sim cattle out of either bull.

any thoughts of in dew time?

He's a definite calving ease bull.  From our experience calves come small and easy and are vigorous at birth.  We also noticed the calves were pretty consistent when you looked accross the group.  Ours were smooth made, deep, sound and had some look to them.  I would say they were lighter on...

What's the OLDEST Club Calf Bull on DENVER DISPLAY Anyone Remembers?

We had a Cheap Trick cow that we had real good luck with, she had a ton of hair for the time.  When mated to clubby bulls they seemed a little hard.  We had good luck mating that cow to sim and simangus bulls.  You could count on those calves having a huge hip and great front every time.  Still...

    Aggressive Cow in Calving Pen

Thanks for the replies.  Even though the pen is pretty good size we will look to do something different in the future if and when we plan to calve in the winter.  Calf was doing a pretty good job of trying to nurse his dam, but that other cow was going out of her way to hurt him while he was...

    Aggressive Cow in Calving Pen

We are calving some cows this past week in northern Iowa.  It's cold and we have a calving pen inside that we have used in the past that is decent size.  Typically we get them in there calve them and kick them back out in a couple days depending on the weather.  With the weather being so cold we...

Barn camera setup I need, is it out there?

We aren't using outdoor cameras, and they seem to be working fine.  We placed them under a roof, but located so they can turn out.  The only issue I see is the infared night vision is limited this way.  They are the foscam cameras I think someone recommmended before.  I would expect any outdoor...
