Flushing our full sib to Black Jade

She had a nice bag to her but lost her calf about 3-4 weeks ago and she has just been out on grass. I know she doesn't have as much condition on her as Bonnell's Jade but she is made right and very sound.

Flushing our full sib to Black Jade

We will be flushing our full sib to Black Jade to Unstoppable. I really liked the Monopoly calves that I saw last year out of other sibs and thought this might work for steers. Whats anyones thoughts? Does anyone think the embryos are marketable? The only reason we may try and sell some is...

    Update flushin Cunia X Angus

We decided to go with Unstoppable and she gave us 9 #1 eggs not bad for her first time. We also flushed our 903 cow maternal sib to Fast Freddy to BIM and got * #1 and our 803 angus to Full Flush and got 14 #1. All together we put 16 in and the rest in the tank.

    flushing a Cunia X angus

We aren't trying registered maines just steers. Mimms told us that the cow she is out of raised some good steers out of heatwave for him in the past and had these eggs left for making steer mom's. We just don't want to go with expensive heatwave semen yet until we see how she flushes.

    flushing a Cunia X angus

We have a Cunia X Angus Cow that we bought as an embryo from Mike Mimms a few years ago and we are getting ready to start flushing in the next couple weeks she is a typical Cunia that needs hair and a little more thickness.  We are thinking Monopoly 2, BIM, Walks, Ground Zero or Milkman

We had ring worm cover a calf this year. we tried vetrycin gel for awhile and saw some results then we switched to MTG and the scabs and scales came right off and the hair started to pop through very quik. We used it for about 2 weeks then switched to something with more oil to it just to keep...

What kind of cow are the Fort Worth ch and res

Why is the first question out of every after a major show "What is it out of?"  It would be nice if everyone would tell more about the cow side of the great steers are out of instead of just the bull that they are out of. Anybody can breed to the top bulls but the breeders that do the homework...

    Smart phone app's

I found one for android called Livestock Manager seems to have most everything that a small operation like ours can use since we have sheep and cattle. Has anybody else ever used it?

    Show Heifer Ration

Just keep your base ration simple and use topdresses to do your fine tuning  We mix all of our feed for the show calves in a cement mixer also. This does give you the chance to make small changes as needed instead of having to do it in batches of 1000 or 500lbs at a time. The only thing I can...

    drain in cool room

We used 3 runs of 2inch pvc pipe with 3/16 wholes drilled in it about every 3-4 inches all the way around the pipe and run them across the pen starting where the middle of a calf would be going towards the back of the pen then backfill them with pee gravel and topped with a landscape mesh. Each...

    Hoosier beef congress?

The changes werent bad just seemed a little stretched out. Just my personal thought would be go back to using the cattle, draft horse and sheep barns for cattle and have the horse barn as the trade show on the far north end and the show rings on the center section and sale cattle on the south...
