    Fitting Tips on Roan Cattle

This was my original plan. Just wasn't sure if there were any tricks to building the leg.

    Fitting Tips on Roan Cattle

Probably some good advice to get a few practices in. Thanks, this is when I had them up "on the hill" during AI season so the picture is a month and half old. She's got so much dang hair that it'll take a while to shuck it. Oh well not a bad thing I guess, hopefully can get her moved this fall...

    Fitting Tips on Roan Cattle

Thanks for the replies so far. She is actually brown and white,  the color from the sunset makes it appear red.

    Fitting Tips on Roan Cattle

Haven't really ever fit a roan calf and will be fitting this heifer we raised in a couple weeks. Was wondering what tips you guys have for it, mainly just legs I am thinking about. Using any touch up paint would be pretty difficult with all the alternating color wouldn't it? Thanks in advance (I...

    Monopoly Money???

Fair enough, however only registered just over 3% Chi. I should have clarified.

    My turn

We had a really nice looking heifer that had a very good Jesse James steer calf. However, her extremely small pelvis forced her to the sale barn.

    Going AI rates?

Doing some AI work for a guy, was wondering about what the going rate is for this type of deals now a days? They are 44 heifers. What do you think per head? Includes: Heat Detection (at our place so not far drive) Giving of shots/placing of back detector stickers (at owners expense) AI'ing...

    Shorthorn Bull Opinions

I agree with XBAR here. Really like the makeup of his front 2/3rds, would like to see how that middle to rear flows when he is on the move. Still a good bull.

    What to breed to heifer

Eye Candy isn't a heifer bull. The hot heifer bulls right now are I-80, I-67, Jesse James, No Worries, Frisky Whiskey and Comfort Zone.

a couple questions about a few bulls

I have a very good heifer out of Monopoly Money this year. The dam was a SimX cow that is moderate framed, sound and deep. Monopoly Money added neck, hair, power/bone (more then I thought he would, which was an added bonus).

    Heifer Breeding question

Forgot to add..I have seen a few No Worries x Walks Alone calves that are pretty dang good. That cross seems to work well.

    Heifer Breeding question

I don't think I'd go Jesse James, he is a good heifer bull but I don't think he give you enough growth on these particular heifers. Check out Comfort Zone...I also like the looks of Slider from Trauschs. Those are pretty clubby/high BW pedigreed heifers so be careful. They look good, best of luck!

No Worries, I67, Jesse James on Angus Heifers

Thanks for the thoughts but I disagree. Numerous show cattle herds across the nation, mine included, have used and continue to use these calving ease bulls with success. Never have ruined a heifer breeding to a clubby calving ease bull, proper feed management and culling of potential replacement...

No Worries, I67, Jesse James on Angus Heifers

We will be breeding enough of them that a variety of terminal calves and replacements could be done.

No Worries, I67, Jesse James on Angus Heifers

Thanks for the info, figured he'd cross great with the clubby females. Have an opportunity to breed some Angus heifers and trying to figure out which bull I like in that cross.

    Walks Alone heifer pic update

I agree on the pics, but you can tell some from these. Cool color, thick reared, appears to be fairly clean necked, may not have a ton of hair but its the good fuzzy stuff. Looks good and keep us updated!

No Worries, I67, Jesse James on Angus Heifers

What type of heifers did you use No Worries on or what did he add? I really like his pedigree, you get the I-80 plus the great Irish Whiskey.
