I was wondering what crosses to make the best shorthorn plus calves.  What is everyones opinions on which clubby bulls make the best calves when bred with purebred shorthorn cows? Also, does anyone think there is there a certain pedigree of shorthorns that seem to do particularly well crossed...

I never said jpj was perfect, I was just giving my opinion on what bull i thought he should breed her to. We never had a problem with our jpj calves being straight.

The original post says that her calf out of Capiche was a great calf... And breeding to a son of jpj isnt the same as breeding to the real thing.

Have you thought about Jakes Proud Jazz? You said she is plenty big, and he downsizes a little. Also, our Jazz calves have the showy look with just enough grow in them. Its always an option on a Salute. And I also think Bellringer could be a good choice, he has thrown some really nice calves at...

Both Eye Candy and Smilin Bob have been proven with shorthorn cows. The grand shorthorn plus steer at Junior Nationals was an Eye Candy x Vegas. There was also a nice heifer there out of EC that Trausch raised. I think she placed in the middle of her class but she was still great. I saw a nice...
