Saskvalley Primo 40P x Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K embryo transfer calves

Thanks for the positive feedback, we're really liking these calves more and more everyday! Calving ease was perfectly fine. 2 of them were out of very moderate framed angus recipient cows and 2 out of sim/angus crosses that arent huge by any means either. All 4 were born completely unassisted...

Saskvalley Primo 40P x Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K embryo transfer calves

Thickness, volume, and depth is exactly right. They all look great, but the first heifer pictured is sure something else! Very excited to see them develop. The other 2 are Waukaru Patent x Shadybrook Marina 7T (DF Pure Gold). A roan bull and a red heifer that came significantly heavier than I...

Saskvalley Primo 40P x Prairie Lane Sparkle 1K embryo transfer calves

We experimented with embryo transfer for the first time last spring, put in 10 embryos that resulted in 7 pregnancies. 6 calves on the ground so far with 1 girl still holding onto hers. These are 4 full sibs sired by Saskvalley Primo and out Prairie Lane Sparkle. 3 heifers, 1 bull. All born...

    Shorty hf bulls

I really liked this bull when we toured your heifers! 37S is also the mother of the Mocha yearling you sold at CWA a couple years ago, correct? Was a big fan of that heifer too. 37S is a great looking cow  <beer>

    Jersey as a gomer

The majority of 'killer dairy bulls' disposition is due to the fact they were bottle/pale raised by humans. They imprint on humans and begin to think of humans as their natural competition for reproductive success and will be incredibly aggressive towards people, especially men, when being...

Young cow letting any calf suck

Has anybody ever had any luck in teaching a cow to not let calves that aren't hers suck? I have a 3 year old PB Shorthorn that will let anything suck, she had 4 going at once last night. She has lots of milk and her calf seems to be doing good again this year, but its something I'd like to get...

    Agrbition Shorthorn Show today

I don't have many pics from the shorthorn on my comp right now. But here's a few of the RBC beef supreme on saturday. My red & white heifer is Peckover Maxine 60Z that I bought at CWA last year. She was Grand Champion Female at the Manitoba Livestock Expo in October that qualified her for the...

    Shadybrook online sale

I know my phone beeping with the 'outbid' emails was annoying the guys at the poker table all night... was a great sale! The format of every lot staying open for another 5 minutes certainly kept it interesting, I think I would have got some embryos purchased for a pretty good price if other lots...

    Mature herd bull photos

Here is pictures of my Saskvalley Pioneer 126P son at 28 months. HC Starsearch 50Y certainly looks to be following in his sires footsteps phenotypically anyway, very excited about purebred and commercial calves in 2014!

    Fill on show cattle

Yes it was a cow at Canadian Western Agribition a couple years ago. There was ALOT of sprite/7up put into the cow and she was a stumbling/shitting mess before she ever went in the ring. I believe the judge refused to place the pair, and she died on the way back to the barns.

    Shorty Folks

Interesting 'purity' conversation no doubt. As a relative new comer to the purebred side of shorthorns it's always interesting to see how these conversations play out and to piece together history and some of what has gone on in different associations.  I was recently given Volume 1 of the...
