    Bonham Show Cattle

Certainly not saying anything bad about Bonham or any other steer jockey. They do make it a lot easier for buyers to go to a place and look at a large group of calf of quality. They will have cattle to most any price range at one place. At Bonham, 95% of their calves are on consignment. With...

    Help with question please

I realize there are many types of land and such. Just in my area of Texas, it's pretty much to 10 acres per head and that's for pretty good land. This would really only require winter hay and just a little cubbing every once in a while.

    Help with question please

That would only be a little over 2 acres per cow. I'm not sure how that could be done.

Steer got nasty tonight, back to square 1 :(

I have used a vehicle with a couple of steers. Trick is that you MUST have two halters on him. One tied to the vehicle and the other for the person that must walk with him and hold on to it. Very slow process but sometimes they will finally give up. I would start with the nose lead first. I...

Has anyone heard of steers having growing pains?? UPDATED: Epiphysitis

what part of Tx are you in? I have not heard of growing pains but I'm not a vet either. Dr Warner is a very good show calf vet. I believe he put an article out in the past about bone spurs in show cattle that causes the limping also.

    clubby bull to improve disposition?

From what I could see, there was absolutly nothing wrong with Show Heifer's first response. I think the part about she must be a good cow to tolerate that type of behavior simply gives a reason one would keep her if that's where the problem is. I don't know why she (I think she's a she) was...

    Newborn question

Had a new heatwave x simmy heifer born this past Friday. A bit flustered after seeing it though. The calf seems to be a bit bow legged at her hocks while standing. When walking, they seem fine. Is this something that will get better as the calf gets stronger or will it be present from now on?

    Breaking/fitting strangeness

they would be disqualified from our fair. From the day of validation, the project must be in the hands of the exhibitor. It must be at their place from that point till day of show. Advisors and extension agents go around and check animals during this time frame. The whole idea is we are supposed...

    Orange CrushxSimmy Steer

Just down sizing a little. My 10 year old is involved with too much in order to give him the extra time he needs to take care of all that he has. This is a September born and is gentle enough for my 10 year old to handle. Would make a good starter for someone or back up.

    Slick vs Hair shows

SLICK!!!! Even though there are slick shows, this doesn't mean the animal isn't messed with daily. tied, brushed, washed and blowed. All other market animals are clipped. Goats, sheep and pigs.... These are market animals and we don't consume the hair. With hair, there are too many tricks and...
