i was going to induce her this morning but when i got to the field she had started on her own. I left her alone for a bit and when i got back the calf was up and sucking. I haven't weighed the calf yet but he looks to be @ 120 lbs. with lots of chrome.

yes we do spread the feed in a row on the ground. we try to givethem plenty of room but them getting knocked around is a real possibility. the vaccine they were given was a seven way for vibrio, lepto etc.(the bacterial stuff). we did not vaciinate the cows for the viral stuff(bvr,bvd,pnuemonia...

i will have to check on the vaccine, but i don't think it was a modified live vaccine. they were vaccinated in the fall, approx. five months back.
