If you have a market for more bulls/steers or heifers why not flush with sexed semen and use 2 straws each time you breed for the flush? Will that over come the loss of quantity/quality of semen? Or use one straw of sexed semen and one straw of regular semen each time. Would that increase...
Probably a 5.5 frame would, we like them a little larger. Her dam is similar size but really puts the pounds in them. Not sure of New Day's frame but would guess around the low sixes.
Took a picture of one of our early November ET calves by Boyd New Day out of a Prime Time Daughter. Maybe not the best show heifer but we are real excited about her cow potential. Her brother was one of the top selling bulls at the SW Virginia bull test in 08'. Let me know what you think.
We have it and love it....DVR all the sales and watch them in the evening. My 3 year old really likes watching the rodeo/bucking bulls sell. The one the other day was pretty cool as they tried to ride the bull while the auction was going on.
I think this is what I was getting at, do they grow better as bulls? If this is true then latter is better than earlier? Sure the stress may have an effect but how much verses the amount of extra growth you get leaving them as bulls to 6 to 8 months old.
Thanks for all the responses,
We have never cut many of our PB Angus bulls, the culls go straight to the sale barn. We have noticed an ever increasing demand on our butchered meat and have begun to sell some locally. This has brought us to thinking about when is the best time to cut the bulls. We are a small operation...
Pictured is a Reg Angus In Focus X 095 heifer born in March. We would like for a Junior to show her, locally for them, in the state fair and the eastern regional. If interested let me know, we are located in western NC.
