    Any Sneed sale results

That would be me :)  I  bought lots 32,33,37 & 41.  We're going to try and get these girls AI'd to CO before coming into Ontario.  I believe they'll be the first RS cattle in Canada, and their CO babies will be rare too.  I really think these linebred girls will excel in my grassfed program. ...

Inbreeding question for knabe, or anyone else who's used an inbreeding calculato

Truth, Did you mean you did NOT get a response from Jim Lents?  I sent him an email last week, and he responded, book is still $40USD for international... and is available (I think $35 USD for shipment within USA). ( [email protected] ) . He might be busy, since I know he has had various...

Inbreeding question for knabe, or anyone else who's used an inbreeding calculato

Hi Knabe, Could you give more details on the "principles of linebreeding" book, author etc?  Can't seem to find it in google searches or on Amazon - I presume it's an old one? Thanks!

Some herd sires from the past

Sue, what is your assessment of Scotty's frame size?  I quite like some of the females I saw from him, moderate, thick and red, but probably not the showy type.

Nice calves! Anyone out there have opinions on Meadowbrook Chieftain 9th ?  I believe he's been discussed briefly in a few other threads.

    Canada Shorthorn People.

I guess Scotty was a bit taller than I thought, looked him up and they say he is Frame 6.1 so moderate but not small.  The picture in my mind says he is shorter, perhaps he was in the mud ;)  Very thick though, and I'd say the daughters I've seen are moderate and thick too.

    Canada Shorthorn People.

I saw Scotty at Shadybrook, and by no means was he a tall bull, I would say he would be classified more as 'short/small framed' with lots of thickness and muscle (which I'd say is where the weight comes from).

    Canada Shorthorn People.

I don't understand your prices on stockers - they are completely backwards of the averages in Ontario.  Generally our avg prices goes down by $0.10 /lb as you go up in stocker weight - so lighter calves and heavy ones don't really bring that much different. Not sure if this will come out or...

    Shorthorn website

I've had problems on and off for the last little while too.  Seems their pedigree search goes offline every once in awhile. For the Canadian guys, I like this parallel site to the CLRC one, shows the same information (he pulls it from CLRC) but he display's it in a different way (similarly no...

    Major Leroy Semen

I have a very nice Major Leroy X River Acres Daffodil 5H bull calf from JIT embryo purchase.  He looks a lot like Major Leroy, and I've been toying with showing and/or selling him.  Very much looking forward to seeing how he grows out and develops! I concur on Optimum, a very good calving ease...

    Shorty hf bulls

I presume Elbee will suggest Wymore (ELBEE Leader 321N "Wymore"), semen available at Semex in the US I believe (not Canada unfortunately).  There are some good pictures of him in another thread, search for Wymore.

***SteerPlanet Member Vote - Break Classifieds into Categories? ****

Really like the way they are divided up now. One thing though - if all posters of classifieds could put the BREED in the SUBJECT line it would be much easier to sort/search and find the ones I'm interested in. Thanks!

    Shorty hf bulls

Hi Jamie, Impressive collection of pics and PDF of all EPDs etc.  There must be a pic of Shadybrook Optimum 75F out there - very good solid red proven calving easy bull. I'd add Saskvalley Bonanza to your list :)

    Shorty hf bulls

I looked at the lab doing it in Lethbridge, Alberta ( http://www.biochecklabs.com/?s=&p=168&o=8  ) .  Sounds like it is a descent option - I'm waiting for the vet bill from last weeks palpations - pretty sure this would be cheaper.  But then I do like the estimated length bred that the vet can...

    Deerpark Leader13th

Water Buffalo are the interesting ones in our area, there are guys keeping them and primarily for dairy purposes - I guess the milk makes very good cheese and apparently there are a lot of Water Buffalo in Italy.  Atleast they look like a good beefy cow!
