    .. i used yellow jacket for several years , loved the calves and they did well . i stopped using him because of the higher birthweights .

    Mine have been in the 80-85 range , would use on second calvers with good management .

    You would be a lot better off choosing a good LBW Angus or Red Angus bull for her first calf , you're asking for trouble breeding her to a club calf bull .. she already has some birthweight in her with Firewater .

    I would say use a good Angus bull and save yourself a lot of worries . A friend of mine used Duff Hobart last fall and got some very nice looking calves with no issues . You have to remember that heifer is 1/2 of the equation !

    I will be using Fusogard on my cattle and hopefully get the hoof rot cleared up , thanks again for all of the help . I also put out some Iodine type salt blocks .
