    When is it considered overkill?

Along the same lines of the overkill question.... What does your state/county consider under the "care" of the exhibitor?  As in does the animal need to be housed on your farm? Can it be at another persons house as long as they are putting in an honest effort in taking care of the animal? Or...

    When is it considered overkill?

My question is.... are these folks in your county that spend this kind of money actually winning the show?  I think it's all relative to what the kid/families goal are. Is State Fair there goal but they run them through county to make up a little bit of the money they have lost through the...

    Club sires for disposition

I ditto the comments about MAB, we've had three all have been good with young kids.  My kids are young and small and we've had dog tame ones out of Monop, Ali, My Turn, Mossy Oak, Leroy Brown, WMW and Alias.  I think the My Turn may have been a fluke, I saw quite a few that were pretty...

Cows or Bulls that it was tough parting ways

Of my own... My first heifer.  A purebred Limi that had an attitude of her own.  She was 13 when I had to haul her off.  She always bred back first time and raised the heaviest calves.  Of course you couldn't get too close to the calves until they were 4 or 5 months old.  I remember once we were...

I'm glad you posted this.  I had been wondering the same thing.  I hopped on there website and there is no mention of this bull, just red waygu bulls and curly haired pigs.

    Heifer Bull Suggestions

Got a couple heifers that we're thinking of breeding a little different.  We've got a black Monop X Heat Seeker/Meyer 734/Stockman and a smoke WMW X Hoo Doo/Meyer.  Our first throught was I80 or I67.  The kids and wife like color....  so I got to thinking, maybe a shorty or Char/Smoke bull. ...

    livestock trailers

We pull a 20ft featherlite, love it, pulls great, but not as handy as I'd like for showing.  It sits probably 4in higher than most trailers.  We're looking to keep this for hauling cows and everyday use, but we're looking into an Eby or Elite, something w/a side ramp, awning and outside...

    2015 Missouri State Fair

Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware that there are several rule changes for the 2015 MO State Fair.  I'm not going to give an opinion on them, but feel free to share yours. http://www.mostatefair.com/2015-competition-updates

    Goat/Lamb Question....

I noticed there hasn't been a lot of traffic on the Lamb Forum so thought I would ask here.... Does anyone keep there show lambs and goats together in the same pen when they are kicked out at night?  I wouldn't think there would be any issues...

    Pretty happy with this girl

Not sure what the other options were... but looks like he made a good choice.  Any cow that can raise a calf like that is worth having on the farm!  Best of luck w/them both  :)

    Matt Lautner question

Phil is Matt's dad.  Dax, Chase and Matt are brothers.  Yes they are two different operations and own many bulls together.  I've not had any personal dealings w/Phil.  I've been to Matt's a few times looking at cattle.  He and his crew have always been open and honest about there sale cattle...

    Sullivan's Bodyguard / Ringworm Question

His spots do seem like they are a lil sore, but they are starting to look better and no new ones have popped up in the last few days.  Fingers crossed, hopefully he's at the breaking point. Thanks for all the feedback.  I for sure got some usefull tips!

    Sullivan's Bodyguard / Ringworm Question

Thanks for the help.  I've not tried the coppertox berfore.  I'm for sure going to give that a try.  "Back in the day" we use to put some sort of tooth paste on them and that seemed to clear them up pretty quick.  @Crystal It seems like I've noticed over the past several years more instances...

    Feeding my steer

I would take him off the beet pulp. I agree with trying and getting them to 1000 or possibly a little over by March 1.  That way your not trying to really push the feed to them when it's hot out.  The 3% rule is good to go by if you have an accurate weight on him.  When you are feeding him is...

    Sullivan's Bodyguard / Ringworm Question

Has anyone used Bodyguard yet?  What kind of results are you seeing? One of our steers has several spots.  Several treatments of iodine and a week later the spots start to grow hair back and clear up a bit.  However, about every week we find a couple new spots.  I say new because the actual...

    Opinions&advice on Simmental heifer

I think you can change this girl a lot in 30 days. I'd suggest three things... 1. I'd start with putting a neck sweat on a few times a week for 12 hrs at a time. The last 3-4 days prior to the show do that each day. 2. Rinse, brush, blow, condition, brush blow.... each day, and find someone...
