Updated pic on I-80 Heifer; opinions

Any suggestions on feeding?  We feed a ration based on AOOK'S but we reduce the corn a little and add barley. Also feed vita firm sure champ and will top dress with SRB for added finish if needed.  Considering adding beet pulp or maybe depth charge for her middle. Any thoughts??

Updated pic on I-80 Heifer; opinions

So, we looked at the heifers again, and my daughter is set on the grey I-80 heifer, so it looks like that's the direction we are going.  She's 3 mos. old now, so will stay with the cow for 2 more months.  I'm open to opinions, and suggestions for feeding.  Breeder said she is more of a hard made...

    Steer just won't eat

Since we started feeding Vita Firm Sure Champ several years ago, we have not had this problem. Might try that although you don't have much time left.

TCCA/TJLA ABC Heifer shows - need advice please

Our heifer is actually full blood Brahman.  For some reason the cow was never registered but the bull is.  I was just wondering if a full Brahman could compete against the crosses?  Our plan is to hit some jack pots for fun and get some experience for my daughter.  But we also don't want to be...

TCCA/TJLA ABC Heifer shows - need advice please

My daughter has a brahman heifer that we are not able to register, however she is full blooded.  We are thinking about taking her the TCCA camp in May and getting her classified as an ABC heifer - have to exhibit at least half brahman characteristics, which of course she will have no problem...

What's too young to make a decision to buy on a heifer? Pics added! Opinions?

Muddy Creek - another breeder/ friend had looked at the heifers before us and mentioned it to the owner and he mentioned it to us when we were looking at them,  but none of us could see it that day.

What's too young to make a decision to buy on a heifer? Pics added! Opinions?

Steve- great idea, but in this case the breeder is a local guy that we have dealt with in the past and he offered for us to give it some time and come back later and look. He also said if someone else was wanting to look at heifers he would let us know so we could make a decision a decision that...

What's too young to make a decision to buy on a heifer? Pics added! Opinions?

I like the black heifer as well, but my daughter prefers the other. We'll probably look at them again in a month and then make a decision.  Thanks.

What's too young to make a decision to buy on a heifer? Pics added! Opinions?

Looked at some heifers recently.  One, that my daughter likes is only 5 wks old.  Another is 5 mos.  They both look good, but I am concerned that at only 5 wks. old, she can change a lot.  What's everyone's experience on this?  Both I-80 heifers. Pics not the best - taken on cell phone.  We...

    Opinions on steer

Does your county show by breed?  Our show is small and the american steers have to show against the exotics.  Up hill battle!  He looks to have good depth for an american steer.  But, I'm concerned by his front feet.  Is he just standing funny, or does he always stand back on his heels that...

    Steer

Stabilized rice bran.  Start out slow - 1/2 lb per feeding and after a few days bump it up a little until you get to 1 lb a feeding - assuming you feed 2 x day.  I know people feed more than that, but that's as high as I've ever gone.  Watch so the calf doesn't get too loose.  If it does, back...

    ..

I have always had good luck with plain water therapy.  Spray it with a hose 2 x day, completely flushing it.  You want it to heal from the inside out, and from the edges in.  While spraying it, I have used a washcloth with antibacterial soap.  With my horses, I scrub the scab off daily, until it...

Show heifer breeders in South Central Texas

As I put more thought into this-- I will probably need something yet to be born this Spring.  My daughter showed a 10 mo. old Brahman heifer at our show last week, and will show her again next year.  We will then be looking for something younger than 1 yr. to keep them in different classes.  So...

Show heifer breeders in South Central Texas

Looking for a heifer for my daughter to show at some fall jackpots and then our local show next January.  Prefer a young one - no specific breed.  Can anyone point me in the direction of a reputable breeder?  Thanks!

    lamb blankets with mesh butts

Try; judyswesternwares.com I have bought blankets and goat stretchies from her and been very pleased.  She is located in Texas.  SHe usually gets them out pretty quick - and is easy to work with.  I think she still has my daughter's picture showing the goat tubes!
