    Show Feed

    not sure about the cattle feed but we fed it to our show pigs and had very successful results. Can get a little pricey.

    Horse Feed

    You could get some stabilized rice bran. Its a horse supplement. Depending on which one you get one has 18% fat and the other 22%. We have a herf steer thats been on it for awhile and it has changed him. We buy ours at Rural King and it runs  around $23 for a 40lb bag. Good stuff

    Life as a 4-H Leader/ Ag. Instructor

    Those little moments mean the most. I,myself, am a 4-H leader of a club that contains mostly young kids. The meetings where they don't listen, or the events where they want to do nothing but play "tag" with each other & cause me to become frustrated mean so little when I see one of them succeed...

    halter breaking

    We have used one before. It does need to have a good attitude or things could get ugly. We have also had luck tying the calf to an old cow. Usually show heifers that we showed the year before. Either way, don't leave them unattended.

    best way to "get ears" on photos?

    We have one guy that always goes to shows with us. He is part of our "crew" & when we go to the banner he just stands in front of the calf. Never fails. Works everytime. He is a little ugly! Lol :)

    first time

    getting ready to AI a first calf heifer. She is older butnever been bred & I just got her home. Her bloodlines go back to Heatwave. Any suggestions on what to breed her to? Would like to stay clubby but its not a must. Just want a marketable calf!

    Stiff steer?

    it could be something major. but last year we had a heifer that was really stiff and we walked her every night for at least an hour AFTER feeding then on show day we walked her before doing anything with her. Helped her so much.

    What are you using?

    I was wondering what hair supplements you all are using that is giving RESULTS! We dont have a cooler but my heifer does get rinsed everyday, put in the dark barn and three fans on her.
