    changing registered name

Angus, there isn't a problem until there are calves by the animal, then it gets more expensive.  If the name is similar to the animals bull or cow's name it's a $2 fix, if done by the breeder, otherwise it's $25.  Once there is progeny it goes up dramatically.

BC II Skyfall 2812 Angus Bull

Express sold three heifers out of their Princess, Queen, and Erica cow families in August for $6250,  $10,000, and $25,000.  Just a sampling, but not the top sellers of their sale.  Reported BW of 80,67,& 60 lb. so looks to to calving ease.

    Angus judges

Judges from Kansas tend to pick more moderate cattle

    Cow calf pairs

Haven't ever done it, but know of a pair that showed several years back during the AM/ NH defect deal.  Can't register a bull if it is AMC or NHC, so they showed him as a steer.  I don't think anyone even knew.  Check with the American Associations to make sure.

    Burger Ad

To be Certified Angus Beef-  The hide of the beef animal must be at least 51% Black Hided.  This is what allows the "other" breeds availability to sell under the brand.  But then....the Maines, Shorthorns, Simmys, ect. had to have an Angus bull used on them to get that Black hide that everyone...

Could the black hided deal backfire on people?

Sorry BTDT, your sources are wrong!! Quote: (I think your percentages are wrong AJ. So I took my own advice and used google. I found some very interesting things out, and I am sure they are all accurate and true since they were on google!! 1. The 4 main breeds in the US are - Angus...

    50k test

Virtually the same except turn around time seems to be faster with the Zoetis HD 50K test.  As posted on another chatroom--(The Geneseek genetic correlation with CED is clearly poorer according to AGI's only published description.)  FWIW

    Angus EPD's

I'm with bluffcountrycattle. Dam was a heifer probably with interim epds.  Was she an embryo calf herself? You need to send in AHIR records with a contemparary group or test him with the Zoetis HD 50K genomic test to get a full range of EDPs with a .35 accurancy instead of "Interim" ones.

    50k test

Yep HerefordGuy is right! If your Angus doesn't have any EPDs ---testing with 50K will give them CED, BW, WW, YW, YH, MW, MH, DMI, RFI, SC, Doc, HP, CEM, Milk, CW, Fat, RE, Mar, Tenderness EPDs that are enhanced to a .35 accuracy instead of a .05 accuracy.  HD 50K marker information provides...

    Preferred Head Chute?

My ET Vet had a brisket bar and took it out.  Too many donors and recips were getting hurt and cows were afraid of it.

    Preferred Head Chute?

We have a Stronghold Chute with palpation cage.  I can work the headgate from the rear or front of the chute.  Love it!!

    In Vitro on Preg cows???

Yep...up to 120 days...or as long as the ET Tech can get to the ovaries through manipulation.  I had a cow that was almost 120 days but was very hard to feel beyond the cervix.  The Tech needs to be able to hold the ovaries to extract the ovacyts.  A pregnant cow actually will produce more...

    EXAR Significant & EXAR Upshot

Uphot heifers were at Angus Jr. Nationals.  Looks like they did well.  Judge liked deep bodied, sound, easy moving cattle.  Significant calves will come this fall and next spring.  I would assume Express has them on the ground now.

    Steer chewing on halter

We had a steer go through a halter a week.  He just loved chewing on it.  Tryed a neck tie, but he chewed it too.  He would also chew on a neighbor's halter if he could get to it.  The PVC sounds like a good idea.  Good luck...ours did chew right through the nylon rope and be loose.  :)

    Who raises good angus steers?

We have raised some winning Angus steers in the past including one to Kansas.  We usually have several that don't make it as a bull or you can pick one ahead of time.  Have several nice candiates for this year already out of Concensus, OReillyFactor, Pit Boss and First Impression.  Next year...

    LiveAuctions

Actually yes.  It's the principal of the thing.  Pay to be in the seats to bid?  I have NEVER been charged to walk into a sale and watch (and possibly bid) a sale.  Same thing here.  If I can't watch and bid then I take my money elsewhere.  I understand that it is a way to keep "college kids"...

    Dameron First Impression calves bw?

So far I think they follow the mother's BW epd.  Have had 70 lb. ones and also 100 lb heifers.  Look clean, nice bone, structure, adequate hair.  Have one out of our Donor- EXAR Envious Blackbird that is big hipped, and big boned.  Should be a great one.

Video - What do you think of this Angus bull?

Nice bull.  Good luck at the sale.  Can't really see him walk very well with the Sire/Grandsire label on video.

    angus bull to breed to

Agree with Mark-  don't breed heifers to Dark Horse.  I would suggest SAV Brilliance- very stylish and moderates them or Dameron First Impression (SAV Brilliance x dam of Dameron First Class)
