We have had 10 calves out of seventy.  We will leave them for about 3 hours so they can suck on their own, but none of them will.  The tempature is around -5 or so, so its not like it is really cold out.  Does anyone know why they wont suck on there own. Its just like they dont know what to do...

I have been around cattle all my life, so 27 years.  I have showed for 19 of those years.

I feed brome, alfalfa, and a crested wheat mix to the yearling and show cattle.  Then the herd cows get slough hay and green feed oat bales.  Bales for the cows are either processed or rolled out.  The yearling and show cattle are fed out of a bale feeder.
