any RED Maine bulls to buy semen on?

Im a little confused, how can fullbloods be registered 3/4 shorthorn also? I am not great at math but I cant quite wrap my head around those fractions. If you have a glass that is 100% full of water how can it also be 75% full of oil?

    Metal Gates

We really like our lynn pipe and post gates. They usually work with you on shipping, order them with the extra bar and heavy duty. We have some we hung over 10 years ago that are still as straight and nice as the day we hung them. http://linnpost.com/Gates.html

    Walk this Way Calves

I have 4 WTW calves so far, two this morning. So far I like them much better than I liked the walks alone calves last year. I should have 8 more coming, as due date is this tuesday. My biggest hang on them is I wonder if they will be hairy enough. They are smaller at birth that the unstoppable...

Opinions on the 5-day CO-Synch + CIDR program

The key to any program is the attention to detail. Keep CIDRs as clean as possible going in, use 1.5 inch needle for GnRH. Switch needles when they get dull. Also keep your GnRH cold, I have seen places that have a cooler for beer and neglect the hundreds of dollars worth of drugs. Yes the multi...

Funny commercial Shorthorn story from Ohio Beef Expo

And you wonder why shorthorn isnt taken seriously by so many, even the breeders cant agree what is a true shorthorn. The breed has some serious image issue.

Opinions on the 5-day CO-Synch + CIDR program

I have had the best success with this protocol, we use estrumate exclusivley and usually whatever GnRH is the cheapest per dose. Give a double dose of estrumate when you pull the CIDR, breed heifers 69 hours later and cows at 72. Its off protocol but it works.

Funny commercial Shorthorn story from Ohio Beef Expo

"Commercial shorthorn" seems to be an oxymoron. Never have I had anyone ask for shorty semen, in fact I have many customers that make fun of the limited shorthorn bulls we do publish in both the guide and added attractions book. And keep in mind jungles are only 50 miles away.

    Runaway Train/ I Believe

Runaway train was certainly big enough, he was one of the widest bull in terms of skeletal make up, very stout, very hairy and big topped. In motion he needs to be better out of his hip and I wouldnt mind changing his foot shape on his hind two. I think he is indeed freaky enough for plain jane...

    CA, CDC, polio

I already suggested backing the kids off the distiller grains and supplementing them in other ways. The death is in the dose. We drink toxic substance every day, water can be deadly. Google it!

    Dr oz the bull

Hes comin up on 4 have you seen any calves? Think he is powerful enough to make steers?what do you think he will click with. Thinking of trying him.

    Dr oz the bull

Yes but you would have to buy the entire collection and have it sexed. Genex will no longer offer sexed semen on new bulls, especially those in the added attraction lineup.

    MAB

I noticed Matt has an early bird special going on, mab clone semen for $25. This is what i was talking about when I asked about the marketing plans for the clones. Competition works well for the consumer.

    Sulfer Toxicity - MERGED TOPICS

Was beginning to miss you on here, I have been bored. Clearly the parents should quit feeding ddg and the like in California. Guess the schools have been overfeeding it in the lunches, hard to find an English speaking lunch lady who can fix a jelly and modified samich in proper proportions

    Sulfer Toxicity - MERGED TOPICS

I don't need to work on a cow calf operation to learn how its done, already own one. Sooooooo let me guess the reason for the premature calf is Drumroll..... Sulfur toxicity? Are there no other reasons for calf mortality? Neighbor accidentally backed over a calf of his two years ago, he didn't...

    Sulfer Toxicity - MERGED TOPICS

First clue is the calf weighs in at 47 lbs. My first thought would be premature. Also having as you say 100 cows does not automatically qualify you from getting an ID on the cow. That is complete BS in the first degree. SL by saying that you have seen calves go 4 days without colostrum and be...
