Straw jumped out of the thaw jug.....

Straw was not faulty. Shake the excess nitrogen out of the bottom of straw or it will rocket out of the thaw unit. Liquid nitrogen does not mix with water well.

    Props to Rogers

Just like to say that I'm am impressed that RCC has put up several videos on his blog that certainly don't hide anything. Its a breath of fresh air to see bull owners willing to show off stock in working clothes or wet!

    Blaze of Glory semen sale

For a bull I thought was just average I couldn't see spending 25 bucks a unit on him. My pick was two tone....unfortunately I think he looks a little high strung for me. Best to let everyone else test him.

Razor ~ The Next Great Charolais Bull

2700 lbs doesnt seem all that large considering Sav Density is only a 6.2 frame and his mature weight is listed at 2728. Upward is 2795, TNT Top gun is 2659 lbs... There are many folks that would beneifit from using a high growth sire to increase performance within herds, that is if the calves...

    Looking for new truck

Never said you did need a tractor, just noted the obvious differences!

    Looking for new truck

I always find the small differences in ranches funny, especially in different parts of the country. We drive pickups here and trucks are whatwe haul grain with. You would be hard pressed to find anyone feeding bales in late winter using anything but a tractor. <cowboy>

    Silent Knight

I have been more and more interested in this calf. At first I just wrote him off as another th free bull but I love the flex and softness this bull has, I did not have the chance to see him in Denver but would like to know what others thought. What would you change about him and what do you...

    I-80

That is why you do what you can to properly manage your herd. Who knows, you could breed her that way a dozen more times and never have a calf over 100 lbs again. That's the game you play with genetics. Using proven and older bulls simply increases the chances of a calf that will pay the cows...

    I-80

Unfortunately this is not the first time I have heard of this failsafe "calving ease" bull to not actually work on heifers. Consider yourself lucky that the heifer is alive and the calf is also. True, i80 has worked successfully on many heifers but I know of more than a handful of dead calves...

    Hoof Trimmers around NE IOWA

Dustin Lindsey is good. He isn't on the east side of the state though, Spirit lake area.

    Cool Whip Promotinal Picture

My initial thought is this a reincarnation of aka? He is way too loud for me to consider. Still sell too many calves by the pound to take a hit like that in the sale barn.

    critical mass

I have 4 calves coming in the first of April. I used him on some simmy cows and my heatseeker, however I wouldn't have if I had known how small he is. I guess that shows me to jump on a notion of a new sire.

    Power 2 Change Progeny Update.

If memory serves me right this is Lot 44, I really liked this heifer an awful lot, stout and sound. Im thinking about using Power to change this next year.  <cowboy>

    Leroy Brown

My 2 cents on Leroy Brown, I liked him well enough to use him last year but he was a bit inconsitant for me, He will certainly make them stout enough but he follows the cow in terms of front end and hip. I have a few cows I used him on again. Here is an april steer out of one of my chars.

Lies lies lies or honest mistake?

I wish I still had all the information however since I used up the semen and the straws were long gone by the time I suspected a problem then I really dont have much of a case. Im pretty much going to Genex semen from now on with the odd case of occasionally buying direct from the collection...

    Carnac

Agreed, I havent ever seen a Carnac calf that I wanted to look at twice. If Who made who was famous for taking set out of back legs then Carnac is famous for making them straight shoulderd.

Lies lies lies or honest mistake?

Allow me to explain myself. I have been using Golden Child for the last 3 years, never had to pull a calf, loved the power and growth I had with the calves and they were easy to work with. Last year before breeding season I purchased more semen(10 units) from the owners of the bull, before then...
