If you get one, get a leather one with the neoprene lining. The fleece lined leather ones don't do a whole lot. The purple sweat works, but they wear out. I ended up having a saddle shop make me one, it works a lot better than the ones you'll find at sullivans.

Its all about timing, if you get those horn buds burned or pasted before they attach to the poll it will look just like a polled calf. Tubes work the same way, you just cut out the skin that has the hornbud in it before it attaches to the calf's poll.

The worst thing a judge can ever do in my book is just sit back and look. We've had judges who never put their hands on one calf the whole day. Then at the end of the class comment on how finished or how much cover the calf has. How in the heck does he know how much fat is over those ribs ???
