We have finished our spring calving 31 cows with 24 bull calves and 7 heifers.  The one thing I will say is I am very excited about 3 or 4 of the heifers.

I have have a bull who out of 45 calves he has just had 4 heifer calves and for a guy who sells heifers to pay the bills it really stinks.  Has any one else had an experience like this with a bull?

I will also say there will be some differances within the same brand.  Last year we bought two double set ups from sullivans.  One blue set and one black set and the blue set blows harder.  Not sure why but it blows harder.

Doc do you recognize the last heifer?  I had a chance to buy a bunch of hazel leap semen and did not do it.  That was a mistake.

Here is a picture from last year of the top heifers mother.  She is an impact shaker out of a Hazel leap daughter. I really like her udder and the way she raises a calf.  I do not know if we will show this years calf but I do plan on keeping her for a replacement.

It is not the watts that end up causing the issues.  We have a 7500 watt craftsman that we bought during a power outage and it will just run one blower.  It only has one 20 amp breaker so two blowers will blow the breaker.  In contrast I also have an old no name generator that was given to me...

Mark I have not seen it but have heard from a couple differant people that there is a Throwback heifer calf in western Oklahoma out of a Solution Daughter that might put him on the map.  The plus is she was out of a show heifer and weighed 82 pounds and was born unnassisted.

He is an Elbee Throwback out of Kolt Foxxy (final solution out of a Vortec x Elbee Bessie).  He weighed 63 pounds at birth.  My son haltered him by himself and has really taken responsibilty of showing him.  Let me know what you think?
