For who all we have had here in GA, I would have to agree 100% with the first 3.  On the 4th I would assume you are referring to John.  I haven't seen him judge since he left GA, but I would say he is right up there in terms of ability.

It may sound crazy, and I have been laughed at several times by people who didn't know anything, but the best bull I have ever actually laid my eyes on was Hereford bull.  His name was Boyd's Heavy Hitter. 

Definitely 734 for females.  The 734 x Maine females will beat the 734 x Angus females any day of the week.  For steers, I'm going to suggest one noboby else has, that I read anyway; Smooth Sailing.

I have had some Heat Seekers get too tall and lanky, but never a Heat Wave.  I have had flushmates that varied greatly in size.  Most would grow correctly and finish correctly, but then there would be 1 or 2 that just had no growth what so ever.  They would be little dinks.  Tall has never been...

If you are wanting to add some growth and still go the Heatwave route, then I would look at Invincible.  He puts a lot of power and hair on his calves, and has way more growth in him than Heatwave (in my personal experience anyway).

But he is out of a Charolais cow.  They have a diluter gene that causes the smoke color.  Even a purebred angus on a charolais will throw smokes.  The black gene is dominant to red.  Shorthorn white and Charolais white genes don't follow the basic dominant/recessive patterns.

The pictures I am refering to are of show winners, so the baby fuzz is not an issue.  I  am with you in that I have bred him to cows that were marked up like Holsteins and got solid black calves along with blaze faces.  I just thought it was an interesting observation, and was wondering if...

Kadabra has been my bull of choice on heifers for years now.  I have never had a problem.  Probably bred 50-60 heifers to him.
