Thanks for the replies! I had her covered in horse blankets with the hair drier running underneath it, making it very warm under there, but her mouth just wouldn't warm up. We gave her another warm IV bag in the vein after a few hrs, then another litre of warm colostrum but it just didn't work...

Should I buy a 7ft or an 8ft chute? How do you truck the 8ft chute when you have a full trailer load? On top of the trailer or strapped to the side, or what? I think I'd like a 1/2 chute but the old man is worried about heifers that aren't broke yet in them.

The only problem I have with Joe is that he throws red ones sometimes, has anyone else had solid red calves out of him? Besides the red gene though, he's one of my favourite Maine bulls at the moment, along with Special Delivery. Calving ease, growth, muscle, and lots of power.

I know of lots of heifers who've had Joe calves all without any problems.

I see no shoulder issues at all with my heifer, she's actually quite clean fronted. I'll try and get an updated picture later today of her.

Well if its more like human milk, then it actually makes more sense to drink that milk instead. Humans are the only species that drinks another species milk, not that natural to begin with. Its a strange world, why stop now...lol
