    to be honest, your mistake was not walking him in between these times, they can be a real pain if you haven't done anything with them for a while. have someone tail him for you when you walk, it should help or you could put him on a donkey.

    i use just a regular barbeque grill brick to take the dead hair out of my steers. i really helps in the summer when the shed out. i just drag it straight down

    i recommend Kirk Steirwalts SHAG, i used it last year and it work awesomely. i definitely plan on using it again this year!

    Opinions on this set of calves.

    my top choices would be the calves in pictures 2/9, 5 and 6. they are super hairy, deep, stout. those are my kind of steers!  <rock>

    Told its not a good idea to trim/trimming hair causes calf to shed winter coat

    to get him ready for the show, tie him up with a buddy durring the day (a couple weeks before the show) and only feed them from a feed pan and water with a pail durring the day. at night let them lose and they can drink all the want. it won't take long for them to learn to eat and drink from the...

    hock spot

    is it just a spot on the back of the hock? about the size of a quarter? i heard they get that from being bedded on wood chips or shavings

    Clipping Rooms

    Forgot to say, solid floor with a little bit of a slope and a good drain. Nobody likes have to stand in piss. Also a faucet with a hose connection to wash the room out.

    High ceiling, plenty of room to move around, white walls and ceiling to brighten it up, floresent light are great too because they have white light instead of the yellow from normal bulbs and insulated ( warm in winter, cool in summer). Hope this helps
