You may have the first calf ever with front legs that function like human arms.

    tying calves?

Being your calves in, tie up, blow out, rinse, comb, blow partially out.  Tie down, feed in feed pans, pull pans when done eating. Make them eat separately so they are used to it at the show.  Around noon, rinse again, tie up for an hour, and let fans do drying. Tie down once dry.  Rinse again...

I'm not against loans at or under the inflation rate, which I'm guessing is what your FSA loan was.

What happens when your income doesn't meet the money needed to pay on your loan?

That would actually be false if I buy a cow every time I accumulate another $1000 After 1 year I would have 1 cow and $500 After 2 years I have 2 cows and $0 After 3 years I have 3 cows and $0 After 4 years I have 4 cows and $500 After 5 years I have 6 cows and $500. So I have 6 cows and...

And I own my cow. The bank owns yours. You say you pay $2250 a year on your loan. After 5 years, you will have paid $12,250 for your 10 cows.  You now own them. So now a cow dies because it got a DA. Another dies during calving. One won't rebreed. Realistically, after 5 years you have 6-7 of...

Thank you but my parents have done quite well. My father went to tech school, no student debt. My mother saved her entire childhood, went to PT school and had no student debt. Combined, they've had a car payment for a total of 5 months on one vehicle. They've had a mortgage for a combined 3.5...

How are you making money by driving it daily and using it for recreational uses like hauling steers to shows and going on family vacations?  Even if you're hauling cattle to different pastures, going to buy a cow you bought, etc. you aren't making any money, you're just maintaining your...

If the loan rate is under the inflation rate then yes, do it. But at 5% your monthly payment would be $966, and in the end that $60,000 truck cost you $69,552.

So on a 6 year loan for a $60,000 truck you'd rather pay ~$1000 a month, totaling near $72,000, for something that will have 120,000 miles on it, is 6 years old, and is most likely worth under $30,000? That sounds idiotic to me.

No Worries, I67, Jesse James on Angus Heifers

No Worries and I-80 are definitely calving ease sires.

No Worries, I67, Jesse James on Angus Heifers

I feel like the only difference between I80 and No Worries is that No Worries sires slightly more bone and mass, I80 will give you a prettier front end.

    Heifer scared of small people

That's a great opportunity to do that. But at a state fair? Too many people, too many little kids, too many opportunities to have her get away by being spooked. ,small scale, great idea; state fair, terrible idea

    Heifer scared of small people

The idea is to tame her down so her granddaughter can show. So yes, by all means, throw her in a ring with hundreds of people watching with a small child (who the animal is not accustomed to) at the end of the halter.  Sound like a good idea?  Some people...

No Worries, I67, Jesse James on Angus Heifers

If you're going that route I would use I 67 and No Worries. Will give you good steers with some mass, (most likely won't compete much though, especially being out of first calf heifers).  No Worries will be the same way but will add a little blaze coloring.
  17. RankeCattleCo

No Worries, I67, Jesse James on Angus Heifers

I80 would give you a great, maternal calf, but I feel like the calf would be lacking power and possibly depth.  The calves should be very, very angular though.  Jesse James would be your most terminal cross... What are you looking to achieve?

    Carpe Diem Steer

He should be around 600 ish pounds so it should be pretty easy feeding from here til February.. Of you're aiming for 1300 pounds he will need to gain just north of 2 pounds per day.  Other than that have fun with your project! Will he classify Hereford?
